When creating a new event, please use the following page and the templates to ensure that we give a consistent message, and so that things are not forgotten etc.
Title
The title should be in the format:
West Midlands MMM Drupal Meetup - SSSWhere MMM is the month of the meetup as a full word, e.g. February. And SSS is a 'short name' of the type of event being help. Types of events can be found on the types of events page, along with their corresponding 'short names'.
The title probably has a lot of extra information in it in certain contexts, so where it makes sense to, please drop words that aren't needed. For example, on groups.drupal.org we can happily remove the 'Drupal' from the event's title, as that is clear from the context.
Body of the event
The body of the event should include at least:
- A brief description of the event, and what attendees can expect.
- Where the event is.
- When the event is.
Where possible these should be split up by nice headings. There are templates for the various event sites we advertise on the types of event page. You can get a 'stock' description for most type of events on the types of events page.
You should give clear directions as to where the event is, providing a postcode if possible and any special directions about getting into buildings etc. If the event is happening in a public place then agree a way to meet each other there, for example: 'by the door, I'll be wearing a red jumper'.
You should clearly state the start and end times and dates of the event, most of the time attendees are expected to attend all of an event, but if this is not the case make it clear that people can just drop in for 30 minutes if they want to.
(Note that the when and where should be repeated in the body text even if the event system being used has separate structured fields for those.)
