Hey Guys -
Do you want to organize a meetup in Rhode Island? If enough people (even a few) express interest I can go ahead and organize it. Just tell me where you are coming from so I can pick a place that is central to most.

Interest is definitely
Interest is definitely around, the problem is finding a place. If you can find somewhere, we'll show up!
Great!
Great! Well I organize a lot of small events as part of my social network site, so that part is easy for me.
Any day preferences? Would a Tuesday work around 6? I'm really open - but Tuesdays would be quieter at most places.
If people are up for it, I think we could get a lot of traction if we do a regular event (monthly) At our first meet-up, we could talk about future meet-ups, what we want them to entail and how we can build up our local network.
I am unavailable on
I am unavailable on alternating Tue/Wed. April 1st is my next unavailable day, then the following week it'll be the 7th -- then so on and so forth, alternating between Tuesday and Wednesday. If it's confusing, just ask ahead of time for any Tue/Wed schedules and I can tell you if I'm available!
If you do schedule a meetup, I will be able to grab the Agaric guys... so there should be at least three people with me.
Sounds good
I'm an interested newbie, and would like to come when I can - though I have an upredictable travel schedule. I do have a class every Tues 6:30-9:30 till end of May.
I know that the libraries have meeting rooms that can be reserved...

Thursdays?
OK, it looks like Tuesday and Wednesdays are no good. Would Thursday April 9 work?
My thoughts for our first meet-up is that we could get together to plan the future for RI meet-ups! We could introduce ourselves, discuss what we would like to gain from the group, its format, throw out ideas for future speakers, that sort of thing.
Although I'm happy to organize the meet-ups in general to make sure they are well attended and stay productive, I think it would be great if each meet-up was lead by a different person. We all have different experiences and networks to pull from. That way we make sure the subject matter is diverse and can take many formats (technical, networking, education, etc) That would be very much in the spirit of open source.
That way the location can vary as well. If we need a projector for a demo/speaker - we could grab a room at a library. Then if someone wanted to throw a Drupal party one month as a networking tool - the library probably wouldn't be the best venue.
I suggest for our first meet-up, since it's an informal meet and greet - we could meet at Felicia's Coffee in East Greenwich.

How does that sound to folks?
I'll be there!
What time are things starting tomorrow? I'm 98% sure that I'll be able to make it.
See you tomorrow!

Aww man, I forgot to come :(
Aww man, I forgot to come :( I'm so bummed!
I woke up with a plan of the day including coming to tonight's meeting. And then starting promptly at 9am, and ending at 5:45, I spent every single second putting out fires (a site recently went into beta-launch).
When I finally had a moment, I spent it in rest... and didn't remember about the meetup until I saw jjeff's tweet :(
Sorry guys. But if you're doing dinner, send me an email and I'll come down.
Thanks for coming!
Thanks for coming Ravi, Jeff, Ken and Kathleen and your puppy -can't spell her name :( We came up with lots of ideas for future meet-ups which I will get on STAT.
As Kathleen said last night, "meet-ups are FOR newbies" so we encourage people to come, even if you don't know how to spell Drupal!
:) See you all soon.
Olga
Sorry I missed
Sorry I missed it - was planning on it but got hit with thing a client needed the next day. I hate that. :-( See you next time.
Man, I can't believe I
Man, I can't believe I missed this topic. I've been trying to get this going for months, last Jeff and I talked we were going to plan on getting it together after one of this Lullabot sessions.
Are there plans for another yet?

Of course there will be another one!
Of course!
Our intentions are to have a monthy RI meet-up.The next Lullabot session is in June - so we need to have one in May!
Would Thursday May 7th work? Same time around 6PM?
What about Tazza cafe in Providence, since it seems most are coming from north. We can have a troubleshooting lighting session and then I'd like to talk about ways we could spread the word of Drupal in RI. If anyone would like to volunteer to give a demo...speak up!
Also, Kathleen made a good point last meet-up. The meet-ups are really intended for newbies - so even if you are just thinking about using Drupal - come and join us!
If I don't hear from anyone that 5/7 is a no-go, I will go ahead and make it an event.
Cheers!
Olga

5/7 is perfect timing for me
I just started working on my first Drupal site a few weeks ago and it'd be great to meet people who have been using it for while.

Out of Town
I'll be running Lullabot workshops in Portland, OR that week. I could do M, W, or Th of the following week (Th is best). But if 5/7 is better for people, I'll be happy to just read the minutes. :-)

Thursday May 14th?
Does the following Thursday, May 14th work for everyone else? Jeff, you should be there because if we are going to plan a post workshop meetup - that will be the next one in June. I think we should have a Drupal after workshop party like at DrupalCon!
Furthermore, not only are the meet-up minutes handwritten (and I have terrible handwriting) they are also done in Pig Latin. So it probably makes most sense just to come.
I stay away from Tuesday/Wednesday because I can't figure out Kathleen's alternative day schedule. Something to do with the waxing/waning of the moon...or even/odd issues.
So 5/14...going once...twice...
haha. I'm busy on the 5th,
haha. I'm busy on the 5th, 13th and 19th :)

Just a reminder that we have the Providence MeetUp this Thursday (5/14) at 6PM at Tazza Cafe in Providence. Drupal newbies are encouraged to come!
See you there!

Great turnout at meetup tonight!
It was great to see everyone and meet those who I hadn't met before. I'm inspired to get better about version control! Hope you guys had fun & learned a thing or two. I'll look for you at Lullabot's meetup in June and don't forget the Boston Drupal Camp!
great meeting everyone too.
great meeting everyone too. I think this is a good start to a larger audience. After next month's meetup, we should really pin down an agenda like the Boston group does. Usually works out well.

Hey Matt! I totally agree and what I was hoping we could do once we got rolling (and I think we are rolling) is rotate leadership on that agenda each month. I think a good meetup structure could include lightening sessions, short demo/presentation then discussion. Instead of next month's meetup Jeff is going to post the Lullabot party - but after that we can discuss planning July's meetup.
