Hi - I have been running the BOA flavour of Aegir on my server for quite a while now and have some dev and prod sites running. Something which is nagging me a bit is the fact that the server is running on debian 5 as it was prior to the debian 6 release. I was just wondering what some of you thought would be the best approach to upgrade - can I just follow the usual distro upgrade route based on the many guides out there or do you think it is best to spin up another server based on debian 6 and set BOA up from scratch on that then import the sites across?
Also do you think there is any major urgency to do this or deb 5 a valid server to use for now?
Curious as to your thoughts...
TIA,
JamieT

Barracuda already supports Lenny to Squeeze upgrade
It is in head currently and will be included in new 2.0.2 release. Of course you should create full backup image before running this major system upgrade, just in case, but all the rest is automated - it is enough to set advanced configuration option in Barracuda to
_LENNY_TO_SQUEEZE=YESand run Barracuda as usual. It will upgrade your system to Squeeze and re-build everything, with almost no downtime during the upgrade. You will still need to reboot the server when it will complete all upgrades.Debian Lenny EOL was on this February 6th
