Drupal 7 book recommendations?

Hi group,

We're in the process of purchasing a few Drupal 7 books for our Library at work and wanted some local feedback. Amazon reviews say they're all good. We're interested in books with more of a developer slant and ones with a themeing (sp?) slant.

If you have any feedback good or bad, we'd really appreciate it.
Cheers,

Re: Drupal 7 book recommendations?

I have enjoyed a few from PackT Publishing in the past, but I admit I have not read the ones titled "Drupal 7" and "Drupal 7 Themes" as a suggestion. There seems to be a few recent titles via PackT Publishing I noticed on their site that are a bit more topic or use specific titled "Drupal 7 - Theming Cookbook" and "Drupal 7 - Business Solutions" oriented. There is also a "Drupal 7 - Module Development" one that is Dec 2010 to note (for those talking on the Denver/Boulder Module dev training session thread).

HTH and FWIW.

Definitive Guide to Drupal 7

This book (from Apress) has been an absolute gold mine for me. It has a gazillion authors, all people who know what they're talking about. It incorporates best practices like git and drush from the beginning of the book.

It's huge and expensive, and has been worth every cent.

Ditto that!

I have this book on Kindle. It was worth every penny. The most comprehensive book I've found on the whole gamut of Drupal related tools, operations, etc. It's gotten me over several hurdles.

Books I've Read

I haven't read the ones suggested above, I will have to check those out. The ones that my library carries and that I have read are:

Beginning Drupal 7 by Todd Tomlinson (Apress Publishing) - http://www.amazon.com/Beginning-Drupal-Experts-Voice-Source/dp/1430228598

Pro Drupal 7 Development by Todd Tomlinson & John VanDyk - http://www.amazon.com/Pro-Drupal-Development-Todd-Tomlinson/dp/1430228385

The first book covers the basics of Drupal and how to get started, the second book covers module development, theme development (including subthemes), and more advanced topics.
