The state of NodeStream w. 9

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

We are currently focusing a lot on the list of beta blockers, and the two main things we are working on are tests for our features and separating our products into their own projects. We also went to Rome and talked products on the Drupal products summit.

Development

We are currently focusing on tests, and we have created tests for some of our base content provider features. We are also working on tools that will make it easier to create your own tests if you are working on NodeStream. We will probably release a blog post about this later on.

We will move the blog product out of NodeStream soon, and when we do we will also bring in the apps module so that it will be easy to install the products we provide.

A new release of NodeStream 2, alpha8, will be released on Friday.

Drupal product days

We were attending Drupal product days, and we talked about NodeStream in general as a product that can be used as a platform for other products. We also talked a little bit about our policy around supporting our distribution.

Support for Nodestream

escapesequence's picture

Can you tell us more about this? Has NodeOne established some sort of standard support contract for commercial installations?

Any working estimate on how close is beta? (important because of beta upgrade support)

Thanks so much for the updates.

NS1 or NS2?

escapesequence's picture

Would you recommend starting a new project with NS1 (D6) or NS2 (D7)?

@escapesequence We don't have

@escapesequence We don't have a specific date for when the first beta will be released, but it will be quite soon, we are working on the finishing touches (automated tests for all parts of NodeStream, and separating out parts of core). Our plane is to have a first stable version out by June this year.

NodeOne provides support for NodeStream installations, and we can also help you with hosting for your project as well. Right now we have the same policy for NodeStream projects as for any Drupal project, you can contact us through Our contact form, or call us directly if you want to know more.

I would definitely recommend starting your work on NS2, it is much better suited for extendability, and it is built on Drupal 7. We (NodeOne) are using NodeStream for all our current projects, because it is part of our process to eat our own dog food, and we haven't had any issues with that approach during the last months.

How Is NodeStream Support?

ithacaindy's picture

I'm looking to commit my organization to one of the two major Drupal profiles aimed at news sites. I like the look of NodeStream but am concerned about devoting resources to it without some assurance of its longevity and level of support. How committed are the developers of NS to the product's continuation? How promptly can NS users obtain answers to support questions?

At NodeOne, we use NodeStream

fabsor's picture

At NodeOne, we use NodeStream as a base for all our projects. NodeStream is inteded to be the platform that we use as a common denominator in all projects, which is how we will ensure that the platform is kept up to date and in development. Since NodeStream is essential to our services, we can guarantee that we will keep maintaining it.

NodeStream questions and issues are being handled here and in the issue queue. We will try and handle all issues as quickly as possible that way. NodeOne provides commercial services around NodeStream as well, feel free to contact us if you want to know more.

According to the "My Content"

According to the "My Content" Workbench item, the article is published. I created a blog post and it appeared in the Blog tab page - but not so with the Article.
