Drupal themes - unable to change from default color scheme

angus_muir's picture

I have been having a hard time switching from default color schemes on a number of themes I have tried to install.

I have installed Mayo, Pixture & Bartik and I get an error message when changing off the default scheme.

I contacted the host provider, who took a look and didn't find anything wrong with permissions. Also looked at the htaccess file and the SymLinksIfOwnerMatch option, to no avail.

Error message returned is:

[Mon Mar 12 10:16:39 2012] [error] [client 99.247.175.138] Premature end of script headers: index.php, referer: http://area2.temp.sentex.ca/admin/appearance/settings/mayo

Without knowing a lot about

Without knowing a lot about your server setup, that error usually means something is happening that's preventing the script from completing and outputting the results. There's really any number of things that could be causing this, so it's going to take some time to track through. This sort of error doesn't usually have much to do with permissions, although it's good to check that.

These two links have some good information to troubleshoot once you get a list of potential suspects.

A simpler way to narrow down the potential causes would be to see if you can get your site running in a local environment (MAMP/WAMP, etc.). If it works without changing anything, then send the apache and php config files to the host for them to compare what might be different. There will likely be many things, but an experienced host will be able to narrow the list down considerably to the most logical and likely offending causes.

Word of warning: this will take time, and will probably not be covered by basic hosting tech support. You might be billed extra for this legwork.

Hope that info helps.
