Altering Text in Open Scholar Administration Pages

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

Can someone tell me how I would go about adding / changing text in OpenScholar Admin panels within drupal, so I don't have to alter core openscholar files? We're trying to add simple warnings on pages like the "add class" (/node/add/class) page, but not having much luck.

I've tried adding a block to the OpenScholar Admin theme, but it's not showing up.

Any advice would be appreciated.

string overrides module will help alter existing text. Getting messages to show up on certain pages you might need to use something like rules to trigger if you don't want to write code

I was thinking string overrides at first as well, but it only works for things passed through t(). Doesn't leave much room for actually adding things, just changing existing ones.

I'm not code-phobic, but I'm trying to avoid doing anything that might make upgrades difficult etc, so altering the core is our least attractive option.

At first we tried adding a block, but the OpenScholar configurations don't seem to actually use the admin theme for many 'openscholar' features. This is my current focus right now, but I get the feeling I'd still have to alter core files either way. :(

hmmm... Shouldn't have to. If you write code just do it in its own module and place in sites/all/modules and should be good, I modify my own distro in this way without hacking the extended core that a distro can provide
