Recommendations on 5.0 for a new site

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

I find myself in the position where I need to set up a commerce site in a relatively short timeframe, and I really want to get the most out of Drupal and ECommerce... so my question becomes 4.7 or 5.0?

I know enough of what I am doing to get my hands dirty in PHP where necessary, but I really need to get an honest opinion from those that have tried/worked on 5.0 as to how much additional work I can expect on an initially simple set-up of ECommerce. Is it gonna keep falling to pieces around me? Are there major features terribly broken? Or is it simply a matter of glitches and inconveniences instead?

I'd love to forego 4.7 and jump straight into 5.0 so that I can help with any fixes I can make and bug-reports where I can not, but I need to know if I'll be biting off more than I can chew there :)

If 5.0 is reasonably stable, I'd also appreciate some indication of what kind of issues I am likely to come across?

Anybody?

Surely there is somebody that can make some comment about this matter? Anybody tried using 5.0? Or is literally everyone waiting for an official 5.0 release first?

It all depends on when you

It all depends on when you want your new site to go live.

You say soon, what do you mean?
If you mean within One month, I would say stick with 4.7.

If you can wait maybe 2-3 months, work with Drupal 5.0.

Drupal Ecommerce strives to make a release within one month of the official release of a new version of Drupal.

As soon as Drupal 5.0 goes live, the clock starts ticking.

That said, Any help you can provide with testing and development won't be turned away.
Even if you use 4.7 for your site, set up a test site with 5.0, download the latest version of Drupal Ecommerce from Head and start testing.
