DrupalCon Paris meetup - let's eat cheese in the park!

I vaguely remember being taught basic French in grade school.

I wonder if those Rosetta Stone dvd's are any good? I'll find out.

And I don't speak French. But I live in Montréal so am surrounded by it a lot. :P Does that help?

I'm currently in Alabama. Sometimes I wonder if we're speaking English.

@webchick - speaking of, I accidentally made this post private instead of public, and I can't figure out how to switch it back.

I don't have my airfare to Paris booked yet, but I'm fairly certain I will be arriving the Saturday morning prior to the convention so that I can have a few days to play. I know I'll go to Le Rouvray (a quilt shop) and probably browse the garment district, but to be honest I expect to spend a lot of my free time drinking wine, doing photography, and ZOMG MUSEUMS.

Moral of the story -- I'll be getting there early, I plan on being brave and doing stuff, and I don't mind company one bit.

I will be my first Drupalcon, so I am really looking forward to the experience.

Too bad I can't speak French either, but my chic, cool, chain-smoking Parisienne fried Cecile is getting married the weekend before Drupalcon (an coincidence that made me buy an air ticket to Paris even before I knew about Drupalcon)

So if she's not on her honeymoon we can all call her for help

Paris is one of my favorite cities and I plan to get there a few days early as well. I can understand some French but the speaking part is way too rusty. It's been over a decade since I lived there for a summer.

I will be there and I speak French! Actually lived there for a few years in grad school so can't wait to go back for a visit. I'll be staying two whole weeks (have rented an apartment with wifi, so luckily won't need to take two whole weeks of vaykay to pull it off). Let's have fun!

I somehow missed the drupalchix meet up at Washington Drupalcon but will love to attend during the conference in Paris... haven't gotten any tickets yet but will definitely soon and stay a little extra time too and explore.

How's lunch on 9/2? (the first day of sessions) I know Jen Lampton is presenting at 13:00 but hopefully we can find somewhere close.

I love Paris, cheese, and parks. This is perfect.

I like the idea of early in the Con. Gives us a chance to get to know each other.

I'll check out google maps later today and look for nearby parks.

How was your lunch? I totally missed that you were getting together for lunch in Paris. I definitely would have tried escape volunteering duties to join you. :)
