DrupalCon Paris meetup - let's eat cheese in the park!
Since I bought my ticket to drupalconParis this morning, I think it's safe to say I'm in for a drupalchix meetup, even though I haven't bought my airfare yet.
I will be happy to put together a meetup -- and even bring the purple/yellow/green dinosaur hat many of you will remember from drupalconDC -- so speak up if you're coming to Paris. We'll want to do it early in the convention so those of you who are new (like I was in DC!) or traveling alone (like I will be in Paris!) can find friendly faces early on.
If you're in, let me know. I'm domesticat here, on twitter, and lots of other places.
(Side note. Speak French? Please say so. Those of you who do are going to be VERY popular at dcParis.)

Je ne parle pas français. Thanks Babbelfish!
I vaguely remember being taught basic French in grade school.
I wonder if those Rosetta Stone dvd's are any good? I'll find out.
I'm totally in! :D
And I don't speak French. But I live in Montréal so am surrounded by it a lot. :P Does that help?
Plans!
I'm currently in Alabama. Sometimes I wonder if we're speaking English.
@webchick - speaking of, I accidentally made this post private instead of public, and I can't figure out how to switch it back.
I don't have my airfare to Paris booked yet, but I'm fairly certain I will be arriving the Saturday morning prior to the convention so that I can have a few days to play. I know I'll go to Le Rouvray (a quilt shop) and probably browse the garment district, but to be honest I expect to spend a lot of my free time drinking wine, doing photography, and ZOMG MUSEUMS.
ahem
Sorry, got a little carried away there.
Moral of the story -- I'll be getting there early, I plan on being brave and doing stuff, and I don't mind company one bit.
It's public..
Oh. Nah. That's some stupid theme bug on groups.drupal.org. Private posts don't even exist anymore. You can see the post fine even as anon.
Good idea!
But please don't make me speak french. It would not be pretty ;)
I look forward to meeting you all...
...be it in a park or in a pub.
I will be my first Drupalcon, so I am really looking forward to the experience.
Too bad I can't speak French either, but my chic, cool, chain-smoking Parisienne fried Cecile is getting married the weekend before Drupalcon (an coincidence that made me buy an air ticket to Paris even before I knew about Drupalcon)
So if she's not on her honeymoon we can all call her for help
:)))

Aw yeah
Paris is one of my favorite cities and I plan to get there a few days early as well. I can understand some French but the speaking part is way too rusty. It's been over a decade since I lived there for a summer.
Lullabot loves you
Our O'Reilly book is out! Using Drupal
FYI, also -- apartment share?
Okay, I am taking the leap here. I am traveling solo to Paris, and don't have anyone to stay with, so I have posted an invitation to apartment-share in Paris on the drupalcon site: http://paris2009.drupalcon.org/content/possible-apartment-share
(Gulp.)
If you are interested, please respond there. If anyone's even interested, I'd love to give preference to other drupalchix.
I will be there!
I will be there and I speak French! Actually lived there for a few years in grad school so can't wait to go back for a visit. I'll be staying two whole weeks (have rented an apartment with wifi, so luckily won't need to take two whole weeks of vaykay to pull it off). Let's have fun!
Definitely will be there!
I somehow missed the drupalchix meet up at Washington Drupalcon but will love to attend during the conference in Paris... haven't gotten any tickets yet but will definitely soon and stay a little extra time too and explore.

Hm. Did we ever decide on a time for this?
If so, I don't see it here. :)
How's lunch on 9/2? (the first day of sessions) I know Jen Lampton is presenting at 13:00 but hopefully we can find somewhere close.
I'm in
I love Paris, cheese, and parks. This is perfect.
I like the idea of early in the Con. Gives us a chance to get to know each other.
I'll check out google maps later today and look for nearby parks.
whoa
didn't realize this was a drupalchix event.... steps slowly away
Wish I could be there!
Have a great time everyone, I will be there in spirit!
ps. Shawn (@langworthy) is one of my amazing coworkers, and I can vouch he is definitely an ally so be sure to say hi to him if you see him at the con! ;-)
allies
the boyz will be ok hangin' out for an hour or so on their own. ;)
we'll be right back and they can hang out with us the entire rest of the conference :P
always glad to hear that we are supported in our efforts.
i like to focus on the drupalchix when we actually have the time and opportunity to meet.
and yes
and yes -- hello shawn :) see you soon!
I've got an idea!
@bangpound claims that there is a Drupalchix Solidarity Committee and Allied Auxiliary Service in the making! (http://twitter.com/bangpound/status/3569785931) Maybe this is a great time for the allies to have a parallel meetup? ;-)
In all seriousness...
I'm committed to supporting the Drupalchix mission in whatever way you all think it's useful. The men must stand up to badness and stand with women in the community. Doing this makes the community better and happier.
The name is a bit wonky even if it does appeal to my Leninist kitsch sensibility, so it's a working title.
is it too late?
I meant to post sooner and say I'd love to meet for lunch on the 2nd. Is it too late? If not, let's do it!
Shall we meet in the main lobby (where the registration tables are) at 1:00? We can either take our conference lunch outside or go to the cafe down the block.
let's meet 2day
Hi,
I think the lobby is a good idea, but at 1:00 I would like to go to asession again, so how about today at 12:00, for the lunch break?
I'll be there
Lena
Lunch. Today. Meet at the whiteboard.
Lunch today (first day of the convention). Meet at the whiteboard. Look for the dinosaur hat.
How was it? Sorry I missed it!
How was your lunch? I totally missed that you were getting together for lunch in Paris. I definitely would have tried escape volunteering duties to join you. :)
