IE and Preprocessed Sub Regions

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

I'm using the code found here http://drupal.org/node/1230110#comment-4834770 to create 2 sub content columns below the main content region. It works well except I noticed in IE 8 and below, my right sidebar floats below them instead of along side. I've attached a screenshot, but you can see the code here. the two sub regions are Preface One and Preface Two:

Can anyone suggest how I can get this working in IE 8 and lower?

thanks.

i am new Omega and css grids..
it seems amazing..
but when it come to ie 6 7 8, it doesn't work..
i really want to use omega for fix 960 and responsive web..
but i can't do that if it doesn't support ie 8 and let versions..
so is there any hope that Omega support them naturally..
thank you..
