Quiz 3.0 has been released. This is considered the current stable release for Drupal 6.

Quiz 2.2 has been released. This contains only security patches and very minor changes. We will continue patching this as security issues come up, but all development energy is being channeled into Quiz 3 and Quiz 4.

Quiz 1.x for Drupal 5 has been removed from the downloads area.

All three of these things have happened as the result of a security patch. During a thorough code review Sivaji and I did for Quiz 3, we discovered multiple places where output was not correctly escaped. This presents a security issue on sites where untrusted users can create quizzes. Such bugs data at least as far back as Quiz 1.x on Drupal 4.7.

Sivaji and I, with help from scor, managed to fix all of the identified problems for both Quiz 2 and Quiz 3. However, nobody is maintaining Quiz for Drupal 5. Thus we have agreed, with the Drupal security team, to pull all releases of Drupal 5 Quiz.

For details on the security release, see http://drupal.org/node/481308.

The Future of Quiz

I will continue maintaining Quiz 3. I will be actively fixing bugs. We may add a few new features, but outside of bug fixing we will not change or remove any existing features in Quiz 3.

Sivaji is the maintainer of Quiz 4. He has already begun working on new features. As I understand it, he is still accepting ideas for new features to add. At the moment, there is no projected release date for Quiz 4. Sivaji will announce it when he is ready.

Upgrading

Upgrading from Quiz 2 to Quiz 3 is fully supported. We have diligently maintained upgrade scripts. You will need to:

  1. Disable the quiz module through the admin interface. (DO NOT UNINTSTALL IT)
  2. Remove the old quiz module code under sites/all/modules
  3. Uncompress the new quiz 3 module into sites/all/modules
  4. Enable quiz through the admin interface. Note that there are now many modules that you can enable.
  5. Run update.php on your site. This will install the database updates.

Thanks to everyone for high-quality bug reports, patches, and well-considered feature requests. Please keep it up!
