Ba3d tool intezar! a Drupal user group has been scheduled for Saturday May 19th, 7:00 PM , in Cilantro, Zamalek.
We don't have neither an agenda nor any kind of plans, yet. That's just a casual meeting so that egyptian Drupal users get to know each other.

We agreed that we will hold a monthly meeting, and our Next meeting will be on Saturday 30th June because many members are having exams before that date.

It was a great day, At least for me. I Found a new great Friends & Drupallers that share the same ideas, hopes and dreams of me. Nice 2 meet u Remon, Foozee, Mos3abof, Jonathan and Mohamed Fathy .I Hope to find this Num Of Drupallers in Our Lovely "Om El donia" Growing day after day.

Yes the same is here, I tried but i think we r not authorized for such operation. anyway i think that we have to use any other mailing list (I recommend Mailing list management with Google Groups).
I think we need to use Remember The Milk , Hi Task, Base Camp or any other tasks management system to manage our tasks and homeworks in more formal and organized way! (i recommend Hi Task). What do u think ?

You can try taskque.com for creating lists and better team collaboration. It will help you to manage all your tasks and assignments. You can use calendars in order to meet deadlines as well

anyway, True, I already talked to Ahmed about this scheduling thing and honestly speaking I don't like setting a time that way and like the voting thing, but thanks to ahmed he just went forward and set up a time and we started to invite people to...
because -and i know u guys know this the most- if we just started the invitation to an online discussion discussing when and where, we would have never met...
so for the first meeting I guess it's Ok to try to plan ahead for this meeting time, and this issue should be discussed in the meeting so we know from now on who will be the organizers and how the meetings will be arranged ;-)

That's music to my ears man! except that I'm only 350 kilometers away from Cairo, i.e in Asyut :D.
Sure I'm welling to participate remotely whenever possible. Also, I go to Cairo from time to time and I'll do my best to attend upcoming meetings.

Folks, I'm a little bit disappointed from the last meeting as we didn't take much actions then ! Anyhow, Really interested to support Drupal in Egypt and for sure I'M IN...Just suggest 3 / 4 different dates so as to we can select from, and lets vote. We can for sure use www.doodle.com for scheduling and you can create a poll for the venue.

Look, I know tht you're probably v disappointed, but let's see this time,
1. Ahmed Zain -Al Hamdulelah- has contacted Drupal.org and Acquia concerning the Egyptian Drupal Community.
2. I was able to grab one or two Drupalers from twitter as I'm active there, including thr infamous Alaa Abd El-Fattah who's contributed to Drupal before..
simple steps I know, and perhaps doesn't mean anything; but also has the possibility to be the begining of something great,
Plus :-D I've been working with some Student Activites in CairoU when I was studyung there and I've been coordinating lots of teams and activites el 7amdulelah, so even if I'm not very strong of my Drupal knowledge now, i know I'm good liaision, so msh hasebk f 7alko ella lama el community dh yo2f w2fa tle2 b momathleen CMS powerful zii Drupal ;-)

Regarding leaving this meeting as it is in the set date, I personally agree.... bas regarding treating open source communities as student activities in Cairo University, btw I've been involved in many of them and on top of some of them as well, but I strongly disagree. ... simply coz the vast majority of this community, or any other open source community, are just geeks :)
We are geeks geeeeeks, and geeks love decentralization ... geeks just hate to be told what to do and what not to do. Geeks just want to volunteer because they truly support a cause, unlike many ppl in student activities who volunteer to learn working in a team or develop some discipline or even just for social reasons... in short student activities are just amazing but not everything that applies there can be applied here :).

I only meant when said worked with student activites, that I will do my best this time to keep everyone up and running, and not go back to have a meeting, agree on tasks, then forget all about each other,
you know Cairo U student activities, they were on project basis,
they can't stop, because they have to go the next phase..
that's only what I meant in reply to m adawy, cuz he was worried that we would be motivated now, but then lose the rush after few days or so...
so i didn't intend to connect being in student activity on how we conduct meetings here or agree on time (BTW I didn't even create the event or agreed on time :) I might even wont be able to come, I just agreed so we can finally meet, and not to waste anymore time on trying to get everyone to do two steps instead of one :)
I Understand geeks can't be managed like ordinary people, thus I URGE you, to go to this meeting, agree on how we do next meeting, because simply defining a date and telling everyone about it won't be good for future meetings, but it's (imho) very good initiative from Ahmed that he did it for the first meeting after a round a year;)

For me personally I would choose English since it's easier and faster for me to type on the go on my mobile, BUT I believe since we're Egyptians and this should represent Egyptian community we should use Arabic..
