It's been a few weeks since our last update on the progress of Commons 3.x, the upcoming Drupal 7 version.
Thanks to everyone who's participated in high-level architecture conversations so far!
Over the next week, we'll move towards marking those issues as fixed so if you'd like to weigh in, please do so now :).
Within Acquia, we're working on finishing our first round of designs which we plan to post for public review and feedback in the next week or two. If you'd like to get a sneak peak, watch this space for announcements on participating in usability tests of the designs.
Interested in sprinting on Commons? Coming to a DrupalCamp?
There are many great DrupalCamps coming up over the next few months including New York, LA, Philadelphia, Asheville, NC and Washington, DC. It would be great to hold some sprints to help accelerate the update of Commons to Drupal 7 with in-person and virtual/online sprints.
To help us plan sprints, please leave a comment here specifying the camp(s) you'd be interested in attending to sprint or the dates you'd be interested in sprinting virtually/remotely.
We're hard at work wrapping up our first round of proposed designs and are excited to see your feedback.
Thanks!
Ezra

Hi!
I will definitely not be able to physically attend neither of mentioned camps @ USA, but, I could be remotely available for following extended weekends:
Unfortunately I don't know yet for August - I could be as free as a bird, or with practically no free time. ;)
Also, Ezra, I really appreciate your IRC availability and willingness to help - it feels like sprint time is practically every work day @ EDT business hours. :D
Regarding areas that I would like to contribute:

I work at Forum One. We use Commons and would love to help out and organize a Drupal Commons sprint at the PNW Drupal Summit (10/20 - 10/21). What would the next steps be for setting this up and helping out during the summit?
Great news! Please contact me
