November's Twin Cities Drupal User Group meeting is coming up the Wednesday AFTER Thanksgiving -- November 28th from 7-9PM at Intermedia Arts. We're excited to have E-Democracy.org leading this month's presentation and discussion:
Using Drupal to Communicate with your Neighbors
Presenter/Facilitator: Tim Erickson, Bill Bushey & Steve Clift - E-Democracy.org
E-Democracy.org is interested in learning about and supporting the development of modules and strategies that connect neighbors with one another and help build community - at the street level.
At the November Twin Cities Drupal User Group meeting, E-Democracy.org staff will lead a discussion that includes the following:
- Short introduction to how E-Democracy.org is already using online technology to connect individuals with their neighbors.
- Look at some of the ways that Drupal is actually being used to build real world “community” at the neighborhood level. (Do you have any examples or suggestions that you would like to share?)
- Help brainstorm modules and tools that would be necessary and/or useful in creating a Drupal Block Club site. We’d like to explore the possibility of incorporating SMS and VOIP technology in a Drupal site, designed to help neighbors connect and communicate important information. We’re looking for your ideas and suggestions.
Please come prepared to share ideas and suggestions about how neighborhood organizers might use Drupal in a block club setting and what modules/tools you would use to maximize participation and accessibility to as many neighbors as possible, including those with limited internet access and limited technological skills. We encourage creative thinking around the use of voice (VOIP) and text (SMS) technology.
As always, feel free to bring your favorite beverage to share. We'll provide pizza.
When: Wednesday November 28th 7-9PM.
