Hello All !

I'm brand new to the Drupal way, and optimizing ZEN where I need to. I've recently undertaken the task of converting a friends website from static HTML to a Drupal driven business/hobbyist site.

He's a magician and very talented. So far, I've tweaked colors and some styles in the ZEN theme. I have 2 major subprojects for his site. An event calendar that he and clients can use for booking him, (any suggestions out there??) and a photo gallery. I've installed GALLERY 2.1 and it seems stable so far with ZEN, and embedded with just a minor headache or two because of my lack of knowledge which is growing by the second.

I'm asking the community for help in finishing up the theming for his site. I'd like to know if there would be a way to have GRAPHIC elements under/over each PRIMARY LINK, instead of just the colored tabbar? How would I use a different icon for EACH link? Is it possible to have the theme CONFIG this icon-changing easily? Is it allowed for themes to CONFIG alot within Drupal? Or is that left only for Modules? If I could develop something, would this be something the community could use? In other words, making ZEN theme easily tweakable without digging into lots of style code & layout code? Just some raw basics I'm thinking. I'd love to hear everyone's comments!
