Assuming the Mayanpocalypse doesn't happen on Friday, we'll be heading into a new year of Portland Drupal meetups! And new years always spark some resolutions and reevaluations. As the new torch bearer/organizer, I'm interested in hearing what you love or don't like about meetups, ideas to make them more awesome and any topics that you absolutely want to hear about in 2013.

I personally would like to
I personally would like to see us have something aimed at welcoming Portland newbies, beginners and/or those who might not be comfortable with just showing up to a meetup. Whether that's a separate meetup, pre-meetup meetup or something else, I'll leave that up to you.
It would also be great if we did brief intros for the entire group in attendance at the start of the meetup for the benefit of new people or those who don't come often; however, I know that could take up a lot of meeting time. Just a thought.
I agree with welcoming new
I agree with welcoming new users. I feel this community has lost sight of it's roots a bit with the rapidly growing success of Drupal. It would be nice to keep these folks openly invited and in mind!
A seperate working event might be an alternative to accomplish this. I know Brewpal exists... but it would be nice to have something specifically oriented towards people showing up with the intention of working with others.
