I realized that Surveygizmo.com was doing something really funky with the date preferences data and I had misinterpreted the survey results. I got the raw numbers (attached) and processed them with a custom PHP script (attached);
In 1st place there were;
14 votes for Just Before
13 votes for Week After
In 2nd place there were;
14 votes for Just After
11 votes for Just Before
Votes for Just Before put it in;
1st place 14 times
2nd place 11 times
3rd place 8 times
4th place 4 times
Votes for Week After put it in;
1st place 13 times
2nd place 8 times
3rd place 1 times
4th place 15 times
Votes for Just After put it in;
1st place 6 times
2nd place 14 times
3rd place 12 times
4th place 5 times
Votes for Week Before put it in;
1st place 4 times
2nd place 4 times
3rd place 16 times
4th place 13 timesWhich shows that just before LCA is distinctively preferred by most people. We could also do it just after LCA, which is Brenda's and Angie's preference (probably also Liz Henry's and Emma Jane's). Though it is notably less preferred in the survey and we would either have to;
- Conflict with LCA Open Day (no sessions) on Saturday 23rd
- Do it on Sunday & Monday
- Do it for just one day
The survey shows a mild but notable preference for weekends.

The survey also shows that only a small number of people would find Saturday 23rd to be a major conflict, while several more would probably attend a bit of both. Half would attend DrupalSouth only on that day.

IMO it's better to do it before LCA to avoid this issue. I'm open to other options though.
