November SCUG Meetup
Our October meeting covered topics from site maps produced by the XMLSitemap module to a tutorial on the Ad (Advertisement) module to exploring the Context module to demos of some project management tools being used in Drupal projects.
For our November 5th meeting, we will have several demonstrations. One of our members is a sysadmin and he is putting up his first Drupal site for one of his customers. A very different perspective compared to approaching Drupal from a web developer or designer point of view.
Also, Virginia Franklyn offered to demo portions of the new PPLD Library web site.
Finally, we had many suggestions come up after our meeting, including:
- A demo of installing and implementing a module
- Real-life demo of Rules in action
- Custom-coding inside Drupal
- A demo of using Views
- A demo of using CCK
- A demo of using Taxonomy
- Demos of modules you are planning to implement
If you could use any of these demos, please comment here and we'll get the demo arranged.
Also, I think we need to change the owner of the SCUG group to either Virginia Franklin (vfranklyn) or me (Rick Nashleanas). Please also comment to express your opinion on this change.
Many thanks for our host, the East Library in Colorado Springs. Our regular meetings are on the first Thursday of the month. We'll start socializing at 6:30, and the actual event will begin at 7:00. Our host locks up at 9, so we'll have to be out by then.
As always, if the discussions here point us in a different directions, that's where we'll go!

I'm fine with this
Thanks again for the organizing work, Rick. I'm fine with changing the group moderator if that will make things easier.

Group ownership: SCUG - makes sense
Many thanks to Rick Nasleanas and Virginia Franklyn for making the arrangements for every single one of the meetings that I have been able to participate in so far. Active RL group participation is highly appreciated and just makes things easier for online (OL) participation, too.
Regarding group ownership
I contributed heavily to the very existence of SCUG as its founder and manager. Many thanks to Virginia and Rick for what they have done with this vibrant and thriving group of professionals.
Coincidentally, I've implemented several steps to transition in a new person to co-manage this group with me. I am still very much involved and love the discussion that SCUG generates, but I lack the time to continue with this alone. Luckily, groups are capable of having multiple managers.
This year has been extremely difficult for me time-wise, so I'm happy to entertain any suggestions for the future direction of this group's leadership. I've already taken a few steps to ensure that by this time next year, when I will no longer be in Colorado, SCUG stays in good hands.
I'll be capable of attending SCUG meetups when most of my college applications are complete. Thanks for missing me!

Methinks the group ownership should go to Rick
Hi there,
As much as I would love to co-manage this group, I'm having a baby in November and will be on maternity leave after that and will have a very limited time to attend meetings after that.
I'll still set up meeting rooms at East Library as long as you would like to have it there, but I think I would be a bad choice at this point for co-manager. Sorry!
Maybe in a year or two...
Great Job, Rick!
As one of the newest members of this group, the only moderator I've known is you, Rick. I wouldn't have it any other way!
Since I'm such a rookie with Drupal, any and all demos would be great. However, at this point on my very steep Drupal learning curve, a demo of CCK and Views would be just perfect!
Hi
Hey, everybody.
My name is Eric and I'm new to this group, Colorado Springs, and Drupal. I've done web design for years, but only recently started getting into Drupal. I look forward to meeting you all and learning from and with you.
