The D.O. re-design is beginning.
There are two general tasks quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis.
I'll ask the infrastructure list for the quantitative data.
1) Web Access logs to determine most popular pages, and to determine inbound and outbound linking.
2) Search tables for analyzing searches
For the qualitative analysis we will need to contact people using Drupal.org. We can probably get a good sample by just seeing who is logged in through some random sampling at different times during a week. The interview questions can be done on IRC or though Skype. They can follow a general pattern that I have used before of determing.
Situation: Who the user is, how they classify themselves as a Drupal.org user, frequency, and duration of use. These might be better determined quantitatively.
Goals: What is their goal, why are they using it, what do they hope to accomplish.
Tasks: What is easy, what it hard, what is important.
There are now 10 people on this list and I am hoping to divide up the work and report with some initial results from the interviews and quantitative analysis of the Drupal.org access logs.
Cheers,
Kieran

Who uses Drupal?
I started this project last weekend at a FLOSS usability sprint.
