Bevan, thanks for agreeing to take this on and for the work you have done leading up to it.
And thanks on behalf of the DA to everyone who has been part of this discussion to date. The energy here is great. Keep going!

Congrats, Bevan!
Congratulations Bevan, and thank you to Cary, the Director of Events.
Keep up the good work!
We now have a director!!
Congrats guys.. I will help as much as possible. Being bilingual (English and Chinese, mainly English), I can help with materials/documents that need to be put together. Should Taiwan be on the list of possible places, I can help coordinate a lot of things..

so whats the next step? lets get the ball rolling.
kudos, Bevan
Thanks for stepping up! You've got quite a job ahead of you.
Can I make a suggestion? I just jumped into this group today and found it a little bit confusing to know (1) what's the current status and (2) what's next and (3) what do you need from people now (either feedback or tasks to do). For now, I'll just presume that it's still really early stage.
One thing we do on our intranet homepage is put a header box that points people to "topics/areas where they can contribute ideas now" and a deadline for contributions in that area. After the deadline, the moderator will consolidate information (if necessary) and take the decision that has been made (or make one if not).
I've found that it helps us keep the ball rolling.
Good luck and we're happy to help however we can! Looking forward to having a local Drupalcon!
