Mentoring the project.module related proposals
If all goes well, there will be 3 active SoC projects related to the project.module:
Obviously, I'll be closely involved in all 3, but I don't think I can be the primary mentor for each one. Of course, Gabor and Drewish probably won't need much help, but we should still do all we can to ensure the success of these projects. So, I'm trying to figure out who should be the mentors. I'm thinking I could be a co-mentor for all 3, but someone else should be considered the "primary" mentor for each one. I'll also be making sure that to the extent any of the code related to these 3 projects overlaps or conflicts that I can coordinate the changes to minimize the conflicts, share patches, etc. I'll worry about this stuff, so no one else should have to...
Here's my current proposal on the primary mentors:
- Translation tools: killes
killes is somewhat familiar with the project* codebase, very familiar with issues regarding translations, and we've already spoken at length about the ideas regarding splitting out contrib translations into separate projects, etc, etc. - Quality metrics: webchick
At one point, she wanted to do the metrics herself, and is obviously well-qualified to help design the UI, consider the metrics, etc. She also has at least a little familiarity with the project* code itself. Obviously, my services would come into play for detailed, low-level code questions, but that's totally within the scope of what I have time to work on. - RCS abstraction: AjK
AjK has written patches for cvs.module already, and has quite a bit of familiarity with that module. He's also a CVS admin on d.o. Again, I'd be closely involved, but I think AjK would be a fine candidate to be the primary mentor for this task.
I haven't actually spoken to any of these folks ;) so this is just my preliminary proposal and motivation. If anyone else would like to be the primary mentor for any of these, please just add a comment or edit this page to volunteer yourself.

I am ok with this. I don't
I am ok with this. I don't expect Gabor to need any actual mentoring. :p
Fine by me....
I'm fine with this too. I've added a comment to the SoC project page and scored it as well as add a note of interest in terms of mentoring.
I'd like to join this
I'd like to focus on the project module this time. Can I join in? :)
My goal is to come up with an easy-to-use project management module -- as easy as Basecamp, if this is okay with the rest :)

Sure...
I don't know if I'm totally qualified to do this, but if Derek's willing to help, then sure. :)
@cryptonomikon, I'm puzzled by your post? If you're a student, then you shouldn't be in this group, and would have needed to submit an application for SoC already. If you're a mentor, you should be reviewing the apps in the queue from Google's site... but you can't make up a project; it has to be one that was already submitted.
