Congratulations to both Lisa Williams of Placeblogger and J.D. Lasica of OurMedia.org. Both people/projects are getting part of the $10 million in grants the Knight Foundation is giving to individuals, organizations or businesses with ideas and projects that will transform community news. Anybody, anywhere in the world is eligible for funding — if the project meets all of the following criteria:
- Use digital media.
- Involve new forms of news in the public interest.
- Focus on specific geographic community.
The Knight News Challenge will begin accepting applications for another round of $5 million in grants on July 1, 2007. It would be great to see more Drupal related projects on that list!
