LCA have asked if we want to have a stall at LCA Open Day on Saturday 23. Note this is the first day of DrupalSouth Wellington, but that the open day is only from 11-2 (setup/packup one hour before/after). I can't be in 2 places at once and don't have time to organise, but I can put anyone who is interested in organizing this in touch with the LCA folk. I can also lend you a giant 3m Drupal banner for the stall.
I expect this would involve fielding questions from Drupal-curious linux and OS-savvy folk. This goes an awful long way towards helping promote Drupal in NZ and Australia.

Drupal represented at LCA Open Day
Hi Bevan,
For what it's worth, Egressive (who are sponsors of both LCA and DrupalSouth) will have a table at the open day and will be promoting our Drupal development and Drupal hosting services. We can also ensure that http://drupal.net.nz is listed on our documentation.
Cheers,
Dave
Static
I reckon we could do a static display, if we can still get a booth.
Banner on back wall.
A4 landscape, laminated screenshots of sites using drupal, base-positioned at 1.65m off the floor, on both sides of the booth.
A4 portrait, laminated "10 reasons to" mini-poster, on desk at the front.
Mini card or hand-out for the open-day attendees to take with all the major drupal addresses on it, also on front desk.
All those things are the easy part - what isn't - as you pointed out Bevan, is being in 2 places at once. I am wondering if there are Drupalistas who are NOT going to DrupalSouth (there isn't anyone in that category now is there?!!) who could set up on the Saturday morning between 10am and 11am, and pack down between 2pm-3pm.
If we can find the right colour, I think when we go on our long lunch walk from DrupalSouth to LCA open day ourselves, each Drupalista could blow up and hand-out balloons. So ok, there is no logo on them, but wouldn't it still be fun?!
Anyway, I guess this all depends on whether we can still have a booth.
I'm 99% sure we can still get
I'm 99% sure we can still get a booth. I just have to email Jayne. Dave and Rob offered to set the stand up as long as it's not too much effort (They have their own Egressive stall to set up and man). If we're lucky they might be able to put the two stalls together so they can keep an eye on it too. Shall we do this? Who can arrange the printing? We can probably use DrupalSouth funds.

Sites to profile
I went through drupal.net.nz and would like to suggest that we feature the following websites:
amnesty
beehive
fine print company
forest and bird
governor general
nbr
otago daily times
paper fish
sorted
sustainability
the wellingtonista
wellington girl geek dinners
wellington nz
The side walls are 2.4 metres deep. so I think that would visually allow 6 A4 landscape screenshots down each side, or 12 if we want to do a double row.
Do others have suggestions for great Drupal showcase sites?

More suggestions
Thanks to the egressive list, here are another few sites:
nz history
greens
labour
act
nzta (although this doesn't pass the isthissitebuiltwithdrupal.com check)
Also don't
Also don't forget:
teara.govt.nz
wellingtonnz.com
nzskillsconnect.co.nz
Thanks
Am waiting for Te Ara to load it's third search box then will take a shot.
Like the cork 'pin board' on nzskillsconnect.
Add some international sites?
What about some of the big international sites?
Eg Whitehouse.gov, some of the music sites?
Perhaps a quick look at buytart.net will show up some good ones?
I arrived in Wellington late last night. Can't wait for drupalsouth!!

Yeah
..the international sites are the easier ones - lists abound for those :)
Good idea though to splice some internationally recognised ones in there - after all LCA is drawing people from all around the world.
Welcome to NZ, kattekrab - hope Wellington is not too notoriously windy.
Screenshots of sites outside of Godszone
Shot Brittney Spears
and also
Harvard
Warner Bros
Ok
Thanks for those links Bevan
Also now have:
Whitehouse
Canadian Tourism
PM of Australia
French Govt
Dutch cultural heritage
NZ Police
Russian CIS
Thai PM
That ought to be about enough then - will whittle it down to those that give a good representation of countries, industries etc.
Just hope they print out well now.
Kudos
Thanks to Joshua Hesketh who set up, manned and dis-assembled our DrupalSouth stand; and to kattekrab who enthusiastically took over to give him a lunch break.
