We've had some great presentations the last few months including Batch API, Open Atrium & Aegir, and Internationalization/Localization. It's been great to have these awesome presentations. Now we need to decide what presentations we'd like for March and beyond.

A few topics have been suggested in the past and may be worth revisiting:

  • PHPTemplate / Theming tips (how to find variables when you need them)
  • Integrating Flash and Drupal
  • jQuery / Javascript the Drupal way
  • CSS and IE tips (round-table discussion about tips and tricks and in general how not to kill yourself catering to the devil)

In addition we could see if a local MySQL expert will come talk to us about what's new and coming up in MySQL.

But, all of these are just suggestions and ideas the real question is what would members of the group like to see or present?

Here are my suggestions.

I would like to attend a few presentations on:

  • Content Structuring and Organization - (From a front-end user experience perspective with a focus on information architecture and how we can best utilize Drupal's abilities to better cater to the needs of our users). Creating taxonomies is quick and easy, so are content types, but when is it better to use one vs the other? Or a combination of multiple methods?
  • CDN (Content Delivery Network) Integration with Drupal - We have the Kaltura Module but What about Amazon S3 services?
  • Per User Content Permissions - (with a focus on using Drupal for social media like Facebook, MySpace, etc...)

Also... I can lend some good advice for you guys on the css and ie tips. Over the years I have figured out and honed a fairly solid and semantic framework that I work within which allows me to avoid many frustrating situations. To be honest...I rarely even test my sites in IE on the PC. I'm a Mac guy and don't even own a working PC. The bugs are so rare that I usually just ask my clients to please give their site a final review and let me know if anything needs to be changed or fixed. If any bugs come come back they usually are only very minor issues that take a few minutes to fix.
