Tomorrow FFH is doing his lesson on mixing Drupal and Flash -but we will not be using Skype this weekend. As Skypecasts have proven incompatible with anything except the windows platform, we're moving to Teamspeak - for tomorrow, you will need the teamspeak client.
To connect, simply go to [teamspeak://webavant.com:8768] and compatible browsers will connect automatically (Note: you need to have a teamspeak client installed for this to work). Anonymous users will have to specifically request voice rights from the menu.
To connect manually on windows, click Connection -> connect from the menu, and make your settings match this image, filling in your own nickname where appropriate.
Alternately, you might want to take a look at Teamspeak's connection tutorial to connect manually.
On Mac, simply follow dmitrig01's video http://dmitrizone.com/dump/teamspeak_for_mac.mov
There he gives instructions on both installing and connecting to the server.

last minute
i hope this switch to teamspeak works at the last minute. i'm curious if it's been tested before for the dojocasts?
fwiw, i don't necessarily care if i can be heard (although that would be cool).. i just want to be able to hear the teacher speak. that's the most important thing.
regarding anonymous users: how do i become NONanonymous? do i use my drupal uid/pwd to login or some other method of registration (having never participated in a dojo session before)?
finally, the topic is listed as being flex but i would also love to see a flash AS 2.0 example that is non flex based. Or at least maybe the teacher can touch on how to modify what he does for flex to make it work in non-flex based apps after he's finished with giving the flex based tutorial.
[general skeleton code of what would be required would be great - maybe ffh can post examples somewhere after the cast?]
fwiw, i've looked at the services module and some other drupal documentation on it and i seem to understand "services" fairly well. the "services' themselves are pretty straightforward and map pretty closely to drupal node hooks. what i'm having a harder time with though is the "glue" which is the "server" gateway part (e.g. amfphp) of drupal services that abstracts and binds the drupal "services" so that they can be used by the flex/flash app. if the teacher could explain a high level introduction on:
AND
it'll go a long way to helping other folks understand all of this stuff. at least it will for me. :-)
Anyway.. maybe the FFh can see this ahead of time and prepare something going in to prevent a lot of confusion / bandwidth conversation during the actual screencast
thanks
Good questions raised - yes,
Good questions raised - yes, we tested teamspeak and found it worked the best of the options we tried, but we're by no means committed to it. If something better comes along, we'll change to that.
Our reasoning was thus:
1) Simple to connect (just entering the web address into your browser once the client is installed)
2) Relatively easy moderation - we've had issues in the past with leaky microphones, spammers, etc.
3) Ability to have more than one speaker - we could have set up a shoutcast, but for multi-teacher lessons, we'll need that ability.
Mad thanks again to Webavant for providing the Teamspeak server.
Regarding becoming an registered user at the channel, you'll need to connect anonymously, then go to the menu, click Self -> Register with Server from the teamspeak client, disconnect, and then reconnect with that login. It may be a little confusing, but one of us on the irc nets will be able to sort it out for you, no doubt.
As for your flash questions, I haven't got a clue. I just work here! :D
