Categories and front page

I've done some thinking, and I want to suggest a somewhat different categorization to this group site. I'd also like to suggest some changes to front page.

Starting with the front page, I suggest five promoted shortcuts. If these may be displayed in separate boxes it would make them more visible, but I suppose that the current top-field would be fine. But if they don't get a small box of their own, I think they at least should have one line each to increase their visibility.

The five links are:

  • Examples of newspapers on Drupal
  • Questions and answers for newbies
  • Some Drupal modules useful for newspapers
  • Learning resources and problem solutions
  • I need a Drupal developer

This list aims at being optimized for newcomers (since people who have been in this group a while probably don't look at the top-field, and can find their way anyway.)

Concerning categories, I find the current category names a bit confusing. I am also missing some categories.
I suggest the following list:

  • Best posts (no change)
  • Events (no change)
  • Newbie FAQ (currently "support"?)
  • Newspaper Drupal sites (currently "Drupal sites")
  • Problems looking for a solution (currently "support"?)
  • Leaerning resources (currently "howto"?)
  • Shared projects (currently "development"?)
  • Developer needed (new category)
  • Hello (no change)
  • About this group site (new category)

Some comments:

  • Newbie FAQ deals with elementary and often vague questions, and should hopefully turn into a comfortable introduction to how newspaper siste can be run on Drupal.
  • Problems looking for a solution should contain problems that are well-defined from a Drupal point of view.
  • Leaerning resources should contain problems that are solved, so that others can learn from them. For this purpose, Wiki pages are probably superior to Stories. Thus, I suggest that when a problem has been solved satisfactorily, a wiki page is created to describe problem and solution. Sticky-on-top of this category list I suggest that we put one Wiki page with links to external learning resources, and one with useful Drupal modules.
  • Shared projects are for example installation profiles, module development, and other things that group members might work on together.
  • About this group site contains posts like this one.
  • Developer needed. There are some posts where people are looking for developers. Making a separate category helps everyone.

Please feel free to critisize my suggestions, and to come up with different ones. (This includes suggesting different names on the categories.)
