Drupal meet April 2010, Hyderabad

Its nice to hear about Drupal Sessions.

Sorry, I could not able to attended session due to personal problem. Is there any possible to watch the session online through webex or video.

First of all, a great thank you to all who made this meet a success. Crucial decisions were made in this meet and one could find the amount of energy and enthusiasm in each member regarding the upcoming Workshop. Also we saw some new faces and were deeply encouraged by the level of interest in each individual to learn Drupal.

Minutes:

1. It was pleasant to see Aruna & Udaya who are working on drupal for their website http://vikasadhatri.org . It was amazing to see how this couple without any technical background are working on porting their HTML website to Drupal all on their own. Also they had recently organized some FOSS workshop recently in Hyderabad & Guntur. Hat's off to them!
2. Also there was a mini workshop before the start of the meet. Ipsita & Ratnamala helped out the Vikasadhatri team with configuring forms using webform & cck for their website.
3. Among the new faces, Ratnamala was an ideal for us. She had huge level of enthusiasm, found from her suggestions and her interest in volunteering for the Drupal Basics sessions. She was the first one to register for the proposed developer workshop adding to the generous contribution of Rs. 1000 towards the Drupal Hyderabad group. She was followed by ipsita in registration for developer workshop.
4. Adding to the level of energy, srujan from VNR engg. college and sandeep from CVSR engg. college came forward to host the workshop at their respective college campuses. It was decided later that VNR engg. college would host the workshop and CVSR engg. college would provide transportation to the venue.
5. Discussions started heating up when the proposal of session topics began. Each and everybody started suggesting different topics in different categories of workshop tracks. All proposed topics can be found at
6. Time for each session was chalked out as to estimate the duration of the workshop. Note that it is not mandatory that the proposed time will be final for any session. It was only done for estimating workshop day span.
7. We got some volunteers for the proposed sessions and it was decided that on 10th of April 2010, a meet would be organized to finalize all the sessions & speakers.
8. The web team would complete the major part of the drupalhyderabad.com within this week and will host all information about the speakers, sessions, venue, date, etc.
9. Responsibilities were shared as : Ipista will be coordinating with the sponsors. Ratnamala would be coordinating with speakers and help chalk out schedule for the workshop. Aruna & Udaya will look after press & media coverage. Sandeep & Srujan will arrange the venue & transportation. Hari & Siva will be working on the portal.
10. We decided to put registration amount of Rs.100 per day for students and Rs. 500 per day for non-students. Registration amount would include tea/snacks, lunch, etc.
11. We also planned that there will be three levels of sponsors(Platinum, Gold & Silver). Sponsor amount around Rs. 10000 would comprise Platinum, Rs. 5000 as Gold & Rs. 1000 as Silver. Platinum sponsors will be listed on banners & venue. All sponsors will be listed in the portal, reading material, etc. The amount raised from sponsors will help Drupal Hyderabad group to conduct sessions, workshops, barcamps, etc. throughout the year.
12. Workshop Dates will be finalized by a poll here. Proposed dates are April 23-25 or April 30, May 1-2.
13. Sessions will be organized in 3 tracks(Beginner, Themer & Developer).
    ->Beginner session will be organized in computer lab which would be completely Hands-on, based on a single proposed Case-study of a website(Like College website, blog, etc.) and will comprise of two days. First day will be hands-on session, and second day labs will be open for a competition or sprint of building websites. Winners will be awarded a surprise gift.
    ->Themer & Developer tracks will be conducted in a hall. Each session would take minimum time, as it would comprise of a session and not a hands-on session.

Please add any points if i have missed out some. Detailed decision of workshop, sessions, etc. will be posted in a separate page. I am eager to be a part of this workshop and hope it gets all its colors fruitful.

Its a great experience to attend the Drupal Meet.

I am optimistic that, all of our efforts together will definitely give fantastic success(of workshop).

I was having some important work on Saturday, so could not make it to the meet. Nice to see new faces and it is great that good decisions made.

Hi all

Sorry for the delay of announcement of dates. There has been some confusion in deciding the final dates. The proposed dates were 24-25 April or 1-2 May. But some of the members notified that they would be unavailable on 24-25 April. Also students have final exams in the first week of month of may, so they will be unable to attend the workshop on 1-2 May.

These issues have prolonged the decision of final dates. I think we should discuss this issue more elaborately in the next meet planned on April 10th, saturday at swecha office at 10 am.
