Organizers:

With millions of iPhones in the hands of people, it's hard to ignore it as a channel.

Whether you run a Social Networking site, Community site, a Publishing platform, an Events heavy site or any site utilizing Drupal, Mobile friendliness has to be a part of the strategy.

While Mobile browsers are universal, the experience of the Application cannot be compared.

Join this session for an interactive discussion on

  • How to make the site content ready for an iPhone App
  • Optimizing DRUPAL Modules for iPhone

Apple Push Notification Service from Drupal

I'm implementing a module that allows Drupal to send push notifications to the iPhone/iPod Touch.

Plan currently is to support 6.x and use the actions api similar to what twitter module has done.

Anybody interested in this? This would be a good time to make suggestions and comments.

Whereis - Send location from your phone to Drupal

I've just released some "proof of concept" code at http://drupal.org/project/whereis, it's an application that runs on your Symbian phone (Nokia S60), queries your GPS for your lat/long, and sends your coordinates to Drupal using XMLRPC.

At the moment, Drupal will receive a node id, latitude and longitude, and it will simply update the location-enabled node with the new coordinates.

This is all at a very basic level at the moment, but in the future it opens up many possibilities - think Google Latitude style functionality for Drupal.

Syncing data with a Drupal website and a smartphone . . .

This is a repost of my forum question over at http://drupal.org/node/463040. I suspect there might be a bit more interest in this topic here, however.

I'm currently doing some research into the feasibility of the title. Basically, I want to be able to synchronize PIM data (and maybe other things?) with various smartphones, like the G1, the iPhone, various Blackberrys and Palm devices.

I found modules and discussions about various things like remote administration and making websites smartphone friendly, but none about syncing data.

Spotify opens up to developers

hi guys,

This is just a quick "heads up" post. If you're not familiar with spotify, I recommend you try it out, if it's available where you are. It's probably the cleverest and slickest music app I've seen online since liquid audio (which became itunes music store).

Anyway..the heads up is that they've opened up to developers with a libspotify (C API package).

The following is from the spotify site:

Mobile Tools module

Hi guys,

I released an experimental Mobile Tools module (http://drupal.org/project/mobile_tools) on Drupal.

It has some essential features to help preparing your site to go mobile:
- e.g. device detection
- redirection to mobile site
- notification of existence of mobile/desktop site
- creating mobile user roles
- Theme switching

Feel free to try it out and suggest new features.

The module is not about making your content mobile, but be sure that an adminstrator can select which content is suitable for the mobile site, and to make sure that people are directed to that site.

G1 Google Phone Drupal Site Management Application

I saw this post http://groups.drupal.org/node/6964 but it seems to be more concerned with making drupal websites come up in the phones web browser, which in and of itself can be quite powerful. However I am interested in the possibility of creating an application for the Google phone that integrates with drupal back end for various management tasks.

New member and new mobi

Hi mobi'ers,

I just joined the mobi group in search of help and resources.

The first place I went, was Showcase. Am I using it correctly? I don't see a single site there. Are we shy or am I using it wrong?

I have so many questions and not a clue, about what mods I can use on mobi's

examples:

1) Can I use mods that use jquery - a lot of the new mods use jquery

2) Same for Ajax

3) what type of menu system works best

4) mod's that should be avoided

5) mods that are perfect fits for mobi

6) paging

7) page length

8) menu length

SMS Drupal registration

I need to find a way to open Drupal 6 up to sms registration. The way I imagine it working is that people can create a Drupal account by sending their name to the application via sms. They then receive an auto reply containing their password and can then visit the site (either directly via a phone or a web browser) and log in using their mobile phone number (instead of an email address) and that password.

It would need to remain possible for people to register in the traditional way with an email address.

What do people think?
