What came to my mind is having the module to keep you logged in works well with setting Mysite to be your home page. Just a guess.

exactly, that makes a god combination for fast access to customized data views! Also good for mobile users. Persistent_login is so interesting, because admin can restrict the user not to access important parts of the site (change password e.g.)
