Minutes of Drupal-Hyderabad meeting of 15th May, 2010
First of all, a great thank you to all who made this meet a success. Crucial decisions were made in this meet with regard to coming developer's workshop and as to how to organise college level workshops and one could find the amount of energy and enthusiasm in each member. Also we saw some new faces and were deeply encouraged by the level of interest in each individual to learn Drupal.
Attending:
Ipsita Mishra,Asif,Siva,Aruna,Suresh,Sravan,Roshan,Mahesh,Ramaraju,Rahimanuddin
Agenda of the Meeting:
Minutes:
1.Feedback on 1st workshop : What went right and what went wrong:
This was the first topic of discussion at the meet and had in turn engulfed all other topics of the agenda. The discussion was prolonged and tried to explore
the most neglected features as well and how an improvement can be made in the forthcoming workshops.
Suresh came out with a suggestion that the sessions in the workshop should be more intensive and opined that most of the sessions in the last workshop were too technojargon kind of.
Ipsita then reminded that the last workshop was a mess of too many topics, she suggested to have a single focussed topic as a session than many unfocussed ones.
Siva then came out with a suggestion that there should be handouts or ppts as prerequisite material to the students about to attend a workshop, he also came out with an idea to have a qualification test for entry into the workshop and also to limit number of students to 25-30.
Ipsita : We should visit colleges on their invitation
Roshan : Integrated workshop for 2-3 weeks
Sravan : Timing and punctuality
Ipsita : Checklist : Drinking water, Mic system, Snacks in tea break, pre-runup session, writing pads, dates of workshop should not coincide with exams.
Siva : It is the responsibility of student organisers to look after everything - right from transport to food to prerequisite completion
Ipsita : The Developer's workshop should be a code sprint rather than presentations/discussion sessions. The goal is to contribute code & documentation to drupal.org
Also it was proposed that a brief session with a small intro to drupal should precede every workshop. And also the time spent on welcoming guests must be excluded from the schedule. And a unique template must be created for all the ppts.
Web Portal:
The second point of discussion was regarding web portal development of Drupal-Hyderabad portal.
The following were discussed:(the web portal should contain)
Friends, It is to inform you all that the Drupal-Hyderabad portal is going for a total revamp.
Also I invite drupal enthusiasts to attend the next meet for disussing related issues.
Hi Rahiman, Thanks for
Hi Rahiman,
Thanks for posting the MoM.
I would like to clarify one statement regarding Developer's workshop ..
The line that says ... "
The Developer's workshop should have a code discussion rather than the final output." is actually meant to be the following,The Developer's workshop should be a code sprint rather than presentations/discussion sessions. The goal is to contribute code & documentation to drupal.org
Thanks,
Ipsita
