Recommended modules for Podcasting

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

Greetings from Texas!
I've been using Drupal to build sites for a couple of years, but, have never incorporated podcasting. I now have a need to build a site to host the business podcast of a long term customer. I'd like to leverage the experience of my fellow Drupaler's to climb the learning curve rapidly.

  • What are the best modules to use for podcasting? Why?
  • What are best practices (tips/tricks/traps) for Drupal podcasting?
  • When should I roll-my-own using CCK/Views?

TIA, David

Agree with Moshe. You might also want to check out the audio-contrib stuff (or perhaps other modules) to make your RSS feed more itunes friendly.

As it happens, I did a site for a friend, and he wanted to keep using his desktop app for creating the RSS feed XML, rather than letting Drupal create it (since it wasn't "perfect", and it was harder for him, as a non-coder, to make changes on the fly).

http://motogpod.com/ - excuse the poor performance, it's on Dreamhost, and it's not especially optimized.
