I'd like to set up an intranet site. I want different departements to have access to different content... for example. Human Resources login gets different content than IT login.

Does anyone in the group know how to do this? When I create different content types, I can see how to control editing, but not viewing of those content types.

Hey Corey, This would be a

Hey Corey,

This would be a great question for the Drupal support forums or to pose at one of our meetings.

It's something of a recommended usage to not use local user group sites here at groups.drupal.org for support requests and instead keep those requests and discussions out in the larger arena of Drupal.org where more folks can benefit (and answer), and to keep the local groups focused on local organizing and projects.

(That said, sssh, don't tell anyone, but if you look into the "user access/authentication" modules on Drupal.org, you ought to have some luck. Content Access and Taxonomy Access Control come to mind. You could also control permissions programmatically...)

One more method of getting

One more method of getting support is the IRC support channel. I hang out on their on a regular basis, asking lots of questions and answering a few. I use Chatzilla for Firefox to connect.

I haven't yet had to deal with an intranet implementation, but if your needs are simple, you can create different content types, and then set up roles so that each role only has access to their type. That should work out-of-the-box, but could be redundant if all of the content types are really the same type (like Pages), in which case it might be good to look at something like the Taxonomy Access Control.

Thanks for your help.

I'll make sure that I use the forums more... also, I think I check out the IRC channel. I can probalby get feedback faster that way.

The Conent_Access module is perfect for what I need.

After I figure this out, I'll be the pro at Intranet applications, so give me a week or two then I can be a resource for that if you need.

Thanks!

I've got lots going on. I am

I've got lots going on. I am running my own business and the majority of the sites I am building are for one company out of Arkansas... he sells them and I make them work. We are targeting about 10 fairly large sites per month so I have a designer that creates a skin, a programmer that programs the skin and a content writer that writes and lays out the site. I spend most of my time figuring out new products to sell and new ways to do it.

I am also building a couple of social network sites... one is going to take a lot of work to build and will revolutionize the way that job seekers find jobs.... You can check out that at http://www.resumango.com/ as long as you realize that it is only a blog site now, but we'll launch the beta of it in about 30 days or so.

So, my hands are in a lot of things right now.

But, my goal is to contribute more to the Drupal community than I take. One goal that I have is to have enough income coming to my business that I can dedicate one person to coming up with new modules for Drupal and really further what Drupal can do.
