I've made a couple of attempts at proposing an Enterprise Architecture group on GDO but the admins feel that since there's already this group called "Enterprise", that it would be a duplication of effort. My response to them was that the stated purpose of this group is expressly limited to the integration of Drupal with third party products. From my point of view, that really doesn't accommodate Enterprise Architecture, since EA is much, much broader and at a much higher level.
Wikipedia describes EA like this:
An enterprise architecture (EA) is a rigorous description of the structure of an enterprise, its decomposition into subsystems, the relationships between the subsystems, the relationships with the external environment, the terminology to use, and the guiding principles for the design and evolution of an enterprise. This description is comprehensive, including enterprise goals, business functions, business process, roles, organisational structures, business information, software applications and computer systems.
However the GDO admins, in their wisdom, have made me an admin of this group and told me to go reshape in whatever way I'd like (http://drupal.org/node/819952).
Which is fine, except that I think I need to initiate a discussion here first to see whether the existing members think this is a reasonable idea. Basically it would just mean rewriting the group purpose statement to say something to the effect that the purpose of the group is to discuss Drupal in the enterprise, including integration with third party products, enterprise architecture etc.

I think that sounds like a good idea. Enterprise deployments of Drupal are becoming increasingly common, and third-party integration is NOT enterprise.

The description used to be all about third-party. Now it's all EA. Is there not space for both since both are commonly included in discussions of "Enterprise"?
