Hey there,

I'm putting together some info for food choices at Drupal Camp this year and would like some feedback (ha! no pun intended!).

Here are three options I'm looking at:

Western Barbecue - Open-flame-grilled and basted BBQ Chicken and slow oven roasted country style Pork Ribs. Served with Chipotle Barbecue Sauce, salads, bread rolls, butter and assorted Desserts.

Ultimate Fajita Bar - Spicy fire grilled chicken and tenderized beef strips, seared peppers and onions, warm Flour Tortillas, combined Cheddar & Monterey Jack Cheese, lettuce, Crema (or sour cream), guacamole, and pico de gallo. Served with Refrito Beans, Santa Fe Rice

Assorted deli meats (Smoked Turkey, Honey Cured Ham, medium rare Roast Beef, Chicken Salad (or Egg Salad), assorted domestic Cheeses, Lettuce, Tomatoes, Pickles, Condiments, assorted Breads, your choice of 2 Salads & Desserts.

I'm also looking into vegetarian options with each of these menus.

Thoughts, opinions, suggestions are welcome.

Thanks!
Kathy

Vegetarian options are a must, but other than that it doesn't really matter to me what is picked out of those options. If you're looking for a vote I'd go for the fajita bar or the deli meats.
Thanks Kathy!

Gluten-free

For me and others eating gluten-free, deli meat sounds like the best option, although maybe not the most interesting! All of them sound good, perhaps you could ask them to verify that some part of the meal would be gluten-free? BBQ sauce and Teriyaki is often not GF, corn tortillas should be available in addition to flour tortillas to help GFers. Contact me if you have any questions, thanks!

This is making me hungry

These all sound good. My Preference would be:

  1. Fajitas ( A vegetarian version would be pretty easy )
  2. BBQ
  3. Deli Meats

note: Deli Meat only comes last because I have a personal aversion to certain food(s) being pluralized ie. meats, breads, candies, cakes and puddings . . . ugh, I know it's proper but they're like nails on a chalkboard to me. :)

Suggestions for other options?

Split BBQ & Fajitas on Saturday. And for Sunday do a pasta deal -

Vodka Cream Penne, 4 Cheese Ravioli, Italian Sausage & Meatballs
Boulder Italian Sausage, housemade Meatballs, Penne Pasta & Vodka Cream Sauce, and four Cheese Raviolis. Served with classic Caesar Salad & Balsamic Viniagrette, Asiago Focaccia Bread, and assorted Desserts.

I'm still working on getting some glutten free options in there...

I think I will stay at the conference and eat then

Please make sure to have vegan options, too.

Fajitas can easily accommodate vegan options. With the pasta, make sure that it is made with just flour and water, no eggs, and offer a simple tomato basil marinara. It will be a big help if the catering people can label the vegan options and set them apart.

oki doki... all settled... whew!

It will be the BBQ / Fajitas combo on Saturday, and the Pasta feast on Sunday. Both days will have special accommodations for vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free clearly marked. We will have to hope that those who did not request that, do not partake of it. We'll also have water, lemonade and tea available for both lunches.

In the morning will be coffee (regular & decaf), tea & pastries. And coffee (regular & decaf) & tea again in the afternoon.

All catered by Biscuits & Berries in Denver. They will deliver and set up the coffee services and provide servers for the buffet lunches. We just need to clean up after ourselves at the tables, etc. So, if everyone would be mindful of that, then we won't have a mess to deal with. They will clear out all the serving trays, etc. They will also bring boxes for any leftovers there might be.

I'll be on hand on Saturday & Sunday should anyone have questions or need help!

Whew! Now I'm full!

Great job!

Thanks for taking on that task. And thanks, also, for throwing in the bit about folks needing to stay clear of the special dietary accommodations. It would be good to mention that prior to lunch being served each day as well. If you want to give me the opening, I'd be happy to play the "bad cop" for you; I promise to be tactful :-)
