So I thought I'd say howdy. I run a small Drupal shop outside of Menomonie, WI. I also do web hosting, specializing in Drupal. Anyone else?

Well, I'm an admin on here and saw rrcjab had proposed a Rochester group that essentially covered the entire Coulee Region and suggested he broaden the name to include La Crosse. Eau Claire will more likely look to the Twin Cities groups, I guess, but I wouldn't object to including EC if I'm wrong on that.
I've been wanting to get a La Crosse DUG going since there are a few of us but, honestly, I don't have the bandwidth right now. If someone else wants to take the lead on that, I'd be happy to follow. Otherwise I'll put some effort into it at some point when I've cleared my plate off a bit. :)

My time is very limited until after the election but I'd be willing to try and put something together in La Crosse. I have held meetings at the North Side library in their little conference room for about 10 people. Should I see about a date when that is available to try and kick something off? Then we can see how much interest there is and at least meet to figure out a way forward?

I'd be up for it. Monday nights are bad for me but any other evening should be fine or during the day on the weekend.

Should we keep this group?
In light of http://groups.drupal.org/node/82594 , I'm questioning whether I should have approved this group. It seemed like a reasonable geographic group that isn't covered by existing ones but I definitely had a personal interest in doing it. Given that there has been no activity except this one post since then, I'm wondering if it should be removed until someone has time to get it going?
I won't make that decision unilaterally. Just putting the thought out there to see what the 5 other members think. Perhaps set a deadline and remove it if no activity by that date?

If anyone is interested just stop on by. I'll bring my laptop where I have a couple Drupal installations we could examine but other than that I'm open to discussion topics.
Feel free to let all your web dev friends know even if they don't use Drupal. It might be fun to just talk shop for an hour and share experiences as well as a way to move forward for future gatherings.
If no one shows up I'll just hang out and play StarCraft 2 :-)

Just bumping this up since the meeting is tonight. In hindsight, making an event rather than burying this in a post about not much going on might have been better. :) Probably not much point 1.5 hours away.

Starting an Eau Claire Group?
I see this hasn't been active for awhile, but I wanted to reach out in case anyone is interested. I'm new to Drupal and am in EC and have connected with one other user so far and we are talking about having a group in EC. I do follow the cities and LaCrosse groups, but know I couldn't really make it to an event that far away, especially on a weeknight.
So if you're in EC or the Chippewa Valley and would be interested in coming to EC for a meet up, just give me a hollar.
