Request for Beta testers for a new cash-based Payment Gateway

Hello folks. I'm writing to let you know about a new gateway and a trial period for that gateway.

Accept Cash Payments in your Ubercart site

In the next couple weeks we will be opening up a trial period for a new payment service. The service allows Ubercart merchants of any size to start accepting cash payments.

About this gateway

This payment service notifies the merchant in real-time when payment is received. Once you receive notification, the funds are guaranteed and there are no charge-backs. The gateway can increase sales for sites where the target clientèle are among the 25% of Americans who do not have a credit card nor bank account.

About the limited trial period

We are looking for some Ubercart site administrators to give feedback on the new module before it reaches a public release. If you are interested, let me know and further details will be provided. To qualify, you will need to schedule time before the end of this month (July) to install and configure the module. Your site must have a sales volume of a few sales a day in order to provide a good test for the module. You can leave existing payment options in place and use this as an additional payment method.

Public release of this new gateway is expected this fall. I will announce its public release here as well.

does it include a pdf download of currency to print out?

srsly, in the mid 90s when ecommerce was scary for customers, I sold items online via USPS C.O.D. (US domestic) which did not require accounts and guaranteed payments were made or no delivery (except for once, some kids managed to get the tamagotchi clones without paying, and only coughed it up when I told them I was going to tell their parents...)

heh

You put the cash in your USB-tethered toaster ;)

The idea is that customers make a promise to pay for something via your site and this third party site. The order is stored on the Ubercart side as "In checkout." The person prints out a slip from the third party site, takes it into a retail location (a national chain), pays for the item in cash, the retail chain has processing set up to immediately ping the third-party site that your payment has been received, it pings Ubercart that the order is placed, and Ubercart completes the order.

About the Company

Would you tell us about the company that is providing this payment service. Like the bank or the third party processor providing the actual transaction.

not yet :/

Unfortunately I can't do that quite yet.

There is no bank here because it's not a credit storage system. They just accept cash at retail locations, and transfer money to your account.

PayNearMe payment gateway

It's still Beta testing, but I now get to reveal the company: it's PayNearMe which has a strong history in accepting payments in the gaming world and is now creating gateways for open source to broaden their market as they expand their cash collection to include cash at 7-Eleven.

The offer remains, if you have an Ubercart site where you would want to help test and your customers are likely to be near a 7-Eleven store and want to use cash then please contact me.
