Drupal Users Meeting, Tuesday 29 January 2008 - Feedback
Here is the feedback from the first Scotland Drupal Users meeting in Edinburgh
Attendees
I have been using a site called bubbl.us that allows you to create mindmaps for free and share them with others so I thought I would do one for all the people who attended, if I have left you off the list can you mail me with your details so I can update the mindmap. Also with the sharing of the mindmaps I thought that would be a good way to put the demos together and get people to add their questions etc. If you want to share the sheets then create an account with www.bubbl.us and my user name there is DaughterofHell if you want to add me to your friends so i can share the sheets with you

Venue
Unfortunately the room we were in the forest cafe had no wifi but I will go and speak to them about a proper space with wifi acces, so for those of you who want to volunteer to do demos/presentations can you give me a list of your requirements, it may be difficult to try and get free space on a regular basis but will do my best. Hopefully once things get started we could have a look at venues in Glasgow and have them rotated between Edinburgh and Glasgow
Volunteers for Demos/Presentations
Can you put your name down here if you would like to do demos/presentations during the meetings
I am happy to contribute to the group bhy sharing my experience of a local install of Drupal, tried IIS and Apache and I now know which I prefer. - Keith
AjK: I'm happy to come along and talk about the work of the security team and security in general, hand coding modules, caching, hints and tips, in fact pretty much anything from the new Drupal 6 release and coding to Drupal internals and module development in general. One thing I'm not is a themer although I know what goes into coding for themes, I just can't draw graphics to save my life! ;) Also, as a Drupal.Org Contrib CVS administrator I can also talk people through the beginners challenges of using CVS for Drupal. --Andy
Volunteers for One to One sessions
As there is a few beginners in the group, ie me and Andy, I thought it would be good if anyone wanted to do some demos on a one to one basis save having the rest of the group go some basic stuff that they already know. So if you would be up for that then please put your name down here.
AjK (but please get in touch first, I often work in various places around the USA so am not always available to make the meet-ups in Edinburgh) --Andy
Structure of the Meetings
I would like some discussion around this as to what people would prefer, as I know people have to get back to Glasgow and other places so was thinking along the lines of
- demos/presentations
- one to one sessions
- Critiquing the members sites time permitting
Times of the Meetings
Can you let me know whether you would want to meet earlier than 7.30pm as I know some people had got their early anyway if you could give me some preferences as to what you would like would help in the planning the venues so for instance was 7.30 - 10 okay or would you prefer earlier start times
Suggestions
As there was a wiki here I was wondering whether you would be interested in setting up a page for your website with your wants and needs and possible demonstrations you would like to see, that way others who have not attended the meeting might like to add with their experiences and hints and tips and we could keep a record of what has been achieved and end results.
Okay I think that's all I have in relation to the meeting and just wanted to say I had a really good time chatting to you all and finding out about what everyone was up to. Look forward to good discussions and good future meetings
