Possibility of a Palmerston North / Manawatu Drupal Users Group?

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

User group meeting

I was wondering if there is anyone here that is located in the Palmerston North / Manawatu Region who would want to meet-up on a semi-regular basis with other Drupalers to share/discuss ideas and showcase your Drupal websites/web applications.

I am keen on organizing / facilitating a monthly meet-up on a regular basis.

Any ideas on topics to discuss or a location to have the meeting would be greatly appreciated?

Cheers,

Sam

Hey guys, I've just started

Hey guys,

I've just started one in Christchurch. Tonight is the first meetup.

One of the things that I did was set up http://drupal.freelancers.net.nz/ as a start. Currently it's just announcing the Christchurch meetup and aggregating a number of feeds from GDO. At the moment it's intentionally very sparse as I'm wanting it to be community driven and built. It's one of the things I'm hoping to discuss this evening.

If you want, feel free to make yourself an account and I'll give you access to post events.

I live in Palmerston North.

I can put it to the Palmy

I can put it to the Palmy Linux User Group that we do a Drupal session. It's inline with what PLUG does, and we're always scrounging for topics :). The club meets every second Wednesday at Spinning Planet (an E107 web design company). Who'd be interested in attending, either in the audience, or speaking on a Drupal topic?

I am keen for that, thanks

I am keen for that, thanks John. At least being part of the audience to start with :)

Second Wednesday of the

johnflower's picture

Second Wednesday of the month. My mistake.

There's a spot free next week in the first (beginner's) section. I'll talk about something Viewsy. I'll get a short blurb to PLUG's president, and next weekend I'll prepare for talking. If you've got any special requests then I can factor them in.

There are at least two other regular PLUG members who are Drupalites, Nick Skarrot & Jamie Love, so it'll be a good chance to swap war stories :), and arrange for future Drupal events.

Drupal + Views workshop at PLUG
