The September meeting of the San Diego DUG is happening on Wednesday September 8th at the Hall of Champions in Balboa Park.
This month, we'll have Burt Lo showing off a recent site he built leveraging Node Import (with dates!), Relativity, MP3 filefields, Search, Panels, and Views and more. This will be a great site building overview for newbies to get a behind the scenes peek at a working Drupal project.
Burt is relatively new to Drupal, but he's been picking it up and learning alot in the past few months, so he should have a great perspective for those who are new to Drupal and looking to learn more.
It's always really exciting to me when people come in to the Drupal community with an open mind and a willingness to share, so I'd like to thank Burt for offering to share with us. This is how our community grows.
We also have some exciting Sandcamp updates to share, so we'll talk about those a bit before moving on to our usual round of lightning talks.
Lightning talks give anyone (and I mean anyone - you, the person next to you and the one across the room) the chance to discuss a recent Drupal thought, observation, or experience that takes five minutes or less to talk about. You can teach us something, wonder out loud why X doesn't work like you think it should, or ask questions about some Drupally thing you're struggling to understand. The only rule for Lightning Talks is that you're going to be stopping at five minutes whether you're done or not. Other than that's it's fair game, so step up and have fun!
Newcomers are always welcome, bring any of your friends that might be interested in learning about Drupal. We hope to see you on Wednesday at the Balboa Park Hall of Champions.

I'd be willing to do a site
I'd be willing to do a site review. I'm just going live with a replacement site for eBay Radio and I've learned a ton from actual doing. Still low-tech in appearance, this helped me cut my teeth on a couple cool things like Node Import (with dates!), Relativity, MP3 filefields, Search, Panels, and Views. By then, I may have finished implementing site security through a PHP include as well. Going over this might fall in line nicely with addressing the newbies. I'd love to survey the crowd while presenting to see how common the features are that I implemented, and I'd love feedback on better ways of implementing what I did do.
