Wanted to start a general thread about the website. I've done a few small changes to give just a little bit more structure, but not added a lot of content yet.
Is it possible we could add WYSIWYG editing, or at least a wiki-like markup for editing content? Its not ideal having to edit HTML. I could have a go at this if the D7 module upload stuff works well, but just checking first...
Any thoughts on further improvements to the site structure welcome. For requirements we can keep editing the book. I added a Vision and Developers pages and will try to flesh out content more.
I turned off display of errors for now. Fusion Starter has some errors but until we can upgrade to production core and themes it probably isn't too helpful seeing errors? If anyone disagrees can easily turn back on..
About the features list (http://www.transitiondrupal.org/node/4) are there any objections to the following:
- Just make it a 1.0 feature list, move the other ideas to a separate page.
- Write the features in general terms, without naming specific Drupal modules, unless it doesnt make sense without that. I think it helps (particularly for possible users) to not confuse a feature list with the Drupal implementation details.
It would be great to start creating tickets for some of the obvious stuff in the requirements list. I checked Unfuddle, do they do free accounts for OSS projects? Or will we switch to GitHub?

Hi, Paul.

I tried installing the WYSIWYG editor on my local version (there is a D7 dev version of the module now; there wasn't before) and got an error early in the process. That means I have to upgrade the D7 codebase to the latest one and try again. I'm not against doing this but would rather spend the time doing that when I can bring it at least to a beta version of D7 and not just to another alpha.
One possibility is that you could give the upgrade and trying to install the wysiwyg module so that you can get that under your belt.
I'm really quite swamping until I get back from the ASPO conference I'm attending next week so I have be parsimonious with my time. If the upgrade had worked straight away it would have taken just minutes...
Do you want to give it a go?

Upgrading..
Are you saying I could try upgrading the D7 core also, to make that work? I could test it locally but to update the site wouldn't I need FTP access to the host account?
I think we can also just edit docs as plaintext for now as a fallback position, it doesnt look great but the content can easily be tweaked style-wise once wysiwyg is setup.
Exactly
Yes, that's exactly what I mean...grab a local copy of the code and database, upgrade core then install and configure the wysywig module, then upload everything back.
That's the process anyone would have to do to make td.org more current since it's running an alpha version of core.

Re-reading what I wrote,
Re-reading what I wrote, apparently I am being parsimonious with my words, too. Yikes.

User comms
Increasingly as we connect with Transition groups and spread the idea of Transition Drupal there will be many people who want to know about the status of the project, but are not interested to join this forum which is typically higher traffic and much more technical. What would be the best way to ensure people can be notified of when the project reaches significant milestones? A mailing list on TD.org?
It would be handy to have something to point people at for notifications when telling them about the project.

We could use http://drupal.org/project/simplenews
The D7 port seems to be underway.
