The Apress folks asked for a blurb for their monthly newsletter, and while I think I missed the October deadline, I'd still like to send them something in case there's room in future editions. Below is the blurb, and I just wanted to run it by the group to see if folks had anything they wanted to add before I send it on.
Here's the request:
Would you be able to provide a small blub about your User Group? About 50-70 words stating when it was founded, history of the User Group, the mission/goal, technology focus, upcoming meetings/events and other fun facts that you would like to add. Don’t worry too much about the word count. The more info the better and I’ll copyedit it to make it fit into our newsletter
And my proposed blurb:
In July, 2007, world-class biscuits and gravy brought together three guys who would form the beginnings of the Drupal User Group in Boise, Idaho. Three years later, and with over 60 members, the group meets monthly to discuss all things Drupal while still enjoying tasty cuisine. There's a lot of ground to cover with Drupal, the technology driving high-profile web sites for the White House and BMG records, so each meeting tends to be unique, covering a different aspect of the platform. The group is both a way for independent developers and designers to socialize and swap stories, and an incubator for those just starting with Drupal. Beyond physical meetings, there are also online discussions at http://groups.drupal.org/boise as well as an ever-present local IRC chat room (#drupal-idaho). Drop by sometime!

Ha!
Ha! That blurb works for me... and is very historically accurate. I was thinking about those biscuits and gravy the other day... ;)
