Oklahoma Drupalers
November DUG Meeting
Tonight is the 3rd Thursday, and as usual we will be having our Drupal Users Group out at Francis Tuttle Technology Center (Rockwell Campus).
7:30pm - 9:30pm
Building 3
Room 1036
There's a significant possibility that we may have a visitor from Volacci with us tonight who can hopefully help answer any questions you might have about SEO and Drupal. In addition to that, if we have time, I might cover some of the interesting improvements that are going on in contrib right now for the core forum module, and how you can actually get an awful lot out of it. Hope to see you all there!

PS: If my wife goes into labor or something tonight, I'll post here to tell everyone it's "Off", but I don't THINK that's gonna happen. :-)
Next DUG Meeting
I guess everyone has been very busy. It's been a little quite in here lately. Sorry I messed the last meeting, I had a long day at work and came home got ready and then made the mistake of setting down on the couch and went to sleep.. I made the previous meeting were it was just myself, Eclipse and his Father. I am looking forward to this months meeting. Hope to see many there.
DrupalCamp Dallas 2009 a Success!

Over 100 developers, users, and business owners curious about the Drupal open source platform gathered in Dallas the first weekend of August for two days of Drupal! DrupalCon Paris 09
I was wondering if anyone was going to go to DrupalCon Paris and to get some more information on going. I want to get the early bird ticket, but I was curious if the price including room and board and everything. I am just trying to get a round-about number for going to Paris. I figured that the $281 was just for the conference, but I thought that I would ask.
If the cost only includes the conference, does anyone know a ballpark number on how much it will be for room, board, flight, etc. Thanks in advance.
Skills and Schooling for Turning Web Design/Programming Into a Career
In the late 90's I started creating websites for fun, mostly game based fan sites, and learned to write HTML in Notepad. I did this for several years and ran a popular Warcraft 3 site (nerd alert!). I did both the HTML and design portions. Eventually, I moved on to building computers and getting into server admin and networking, and wasn't keeping up with web stuff anymore. Now I work full time as an IT Admin.
Presenter's Notes
Just a quick few notes from tonight's meeting:
First, for those of you who haven't setup your own Drupal installations before, I forgot to mention DAMP from Acquia. It's the "stack" installer there, and should be a one stop install for you. I've not used it yet, but I've heard good things. If you're more adventuresome and want to do a little more work, xampp, wamp, mamp are great tools for getting a server up and running on your machine.
We discussed some of the MUST-HAVE modules, the quick ones I mentioned were:
CCK
Views

Oklahoma Meetup
As far as I know, oklahoma has no active Drupal Users Group (DUG). Having spoken with a couple other OK based drupalers we'd all really like to see that change.
With Drupalcon DC coming, I'm personally out of town and busy until after that, but it's been proposed that perhaps a late March, early April meetup might be possible. There's also been some talk of the okcCoCo in this regard. I'm not really part of that at all so I can't make commitments for them, but if we need a place to meet I'm sure our offices will be enough to start (Other ideas welcome).
Drupalcon 2009 - Washington DC

BarCamp Little Rock
BarCamp is an ad-hoc gathering born from the desire for people to share and learn in an open environment. It is an intense event with discussions, demos and interaction from participants.
BarCamp Little Rock is a combination party and educational event. Get together with fellow technologists and talk about whatever floats your boat--open source software, design, networking, systems administration, GIS, programming, or hardware, or anything awesome.
The deal is that if you'd like to come, try to either:
