Wouldn't be better to create a troubleshooting category , so all the problem solution requests will not mess with other discussions ?
I think that it would make things easier for a user , and a developer , if this discussion was not scattered between the forum posts

Hello everybody!

As some of you may have noticed already the Gallery2-Team announced a complete rewrite of the Gallery project named "Gallery3", "G3" in short (read http://gallery.menalto.com/gallery_3_begins). I agree with the G2 devs that a rewrite at this point makes a lot of sense. The latest version of G2.3 provides good funtionality, but has grown heavyweight/complex and slow. However, the announcement of G3 has great impact on the future of the Drupal integration module(s) as well. What does this mean for us?

I'm not sure this has any value anymore or where, if anywhere this should go, but these are my notes. I finally upgraded from drupal 4.7 to drupal 6.4. That meant I could finally try the new Gallery module. These are my notes to myself on the process and what I did and little issues I had. I hope they're useful. Perhaps with some feedback and refinement they might have something worth adding to the codex. Not sure about that.

1. Install Gallery

I think we made a nice step forward with the release of 5.x-2.x in November 2007. However, there is still a lot of work to be done. I cant provide a schedule for gallery module, but I can give you an overview of things I plan to tackle in the next months.

BTW: There are still (almost) no people helping out with documentation and support. Dozens of sites are running G2 with Drupal, but it looks like nobody really feels connected to the spirit of the community enough to contribute :(

At the moment we are (at most) 1 1/2 people working on the gallery module and its affiliates. Thats not a problem per se (for example it allows us to make major changes and rapid progress without lengthy discussions), but there is little time left to answer all requests submitted to the issues queue. Also the G2 integration forums are almost unsupported because of our limited resources and we still dont have a basic documentation online in the G2 codex.

I haven't got a photo gallery on Drupal yet but thinking seriously about it (I have some stuff on Flickr ready to move in), however I thought it would be very cool to have a list of all the Drupal photo galleries out there for the people who want to create a new one (like me) or just for the curious.

I decided to reuse Thilo's nicely formatted post about Gallery2 sites for collecting the main data (I hope you don't mind?). Don't forget to go update his post if you are using Gallery2 specifically.

Anybody that did not use Gallery2 for his Drupal photo gallery?
