A long career in web development starting at Stanford University as a Unix Systems Administrator in the late '80s. Went on to a little internet startup called Netscape in 1995 as tech lead for one of the server product divisions - which changed everything. Stints at Sun and AOL through the millennium, heading the groups@AOL project (among other lesser-knowns). Bought a Silicon Valley music store in 2001 with stock options after the dot-com crash and relaxed from technology for a few years, writing open source blog, CMS software, and social platforms on the side, between selling guitars and clarinets. Did some freelance work and designed a large scale social CMS for Symantec in 2006, prior to leaving the U.S. in 2007.
Currently living in rural Australia building web platforms and doing Unix administration for the University of Wollongong.
