Personally, my hobbies include learning lite jazz guitar, singing and playing bluegrass, "old" country, as well as folk-music, lite-rock all with acoustic-electric guitar and mandolin. I've been a "wild jammin' fool" for years and have been good enough for most bands since the 1990s. I'm learning fiddle and improving keyboard skills to be "band-ready" on those as well.
I've been a "lacto" vegitarian since 1969. I love vegan dishes and vegan politics about the treatment of animals which are better than my own. I also have a poorly educated but strong interest in the "Psychology of Religion", the methods and influences of "spiritual hypnosis", and have dabbled in eastern religious practice for several decades. I tend to prefer Vaishnavism over Shiva or Durga practices but remain somewhat fond of buddhism including "zen" and certainly goddess worshipping as well. Scratch my sometimes sectarian surface and I'm probably an ecumenical "Ghandian feminist" of some kind.
I was a founding member of the California Green Party and I remain a "Green" although I "hold my nose" sometimes to vote for Democrats, who have been too easy to push to "the right", when they're my only choice. I also have worked on several campaigns such as (Jesse) Jackson for (US) President in 1988 and Jerry Brown for (US) President.

WebLearningTools Research is a "d.b.a." pseudonym for now. (DBA = doing business as) It will be a California 501-C3 non-profit organization a.s.a.p. The site is currently full of 2 years of online articles I have found which I think support my notions about the likely convergence of distance learning and intelligent tutoring system. As such I hope the site is becoming an asset for non-technical educators to use to educate themselves about these issues and trends. Currently the site is Joomla powered, which has been my self-paced on-the-job effort to learn to use a CMS for web site creation and building in general and for creating distance learning web sites in particular. I will clone the site soon as a Drupal 7 site. But distance learning will not be limited to one only CMS.
The site is in part intended to become a repository for all things Joomla, Drupal (maybe Plone and WordPress) and Moodle where "all things" are related to CMSes which facilitate accessible effective distance learning. When I've trained myself to have "intermediate skills" with D6-D7, the site will include my "sample courses" for computer novice and computer phobic educators as well as include technical remarks and papers that help educational web site developers plan, build, test, and deploy "better" ed-web sites. The "sample courses" will in part exist to "sell" educators on what can and cannot be done with current open source CMS.
You can't get educators to adopt a CMS if they don't know what is worth adopting and why! You can't get technical people to adopt a CMS to create distance learning sufficiently "pleasing" to the educators if the techies can't see how to put a site together, maintain it, and evolve it. You can't get administrators of educational institutions to adopt one CMS (or two) over another unless they can perform their "cost-benefit" analysis accurately and "completely" to their satisfaction.
So WebLearningTools Research exists in large part to collect and present to those audiences the necessary motivating and training materials.
