DRUPAL + iPhone (iPhone Application for DRUPAL Site)
With millions of iPhones in the hands of people, it's hard to ignore it as a channel.
Whether you run a Social Networking site, Community site, a Publishing platform, an Events heavy site or any site utilizing Drupal, Mobile friendliness has to be a part of the strategy.
While Mobile browsers are universal, the experience of the Application cannot be compared.

Grants and Programs for Participation in Drupal/Open Source
A few nights ago, I listened to the mp3 from this Drupalchix panel at the DrupalCamp LA. (And many congrats to the organizers Rain Breaw and Nicole Bluto for their smart leadership!) http://2009.drupalcampla.com/drupalchix (see also, http://groups.drupal.org/node/23188)
One of the speaker/facilitators (Rain, I believe) talks about the film industry and how grants are available to support and encourage aspiring women directors. I definitely know a number of women who were able to develop their own visions and voices with the support of various arts grants.
Help! How to stop "backlinkers?"
Hi folks, I'm wondering if you have any suggestions because we're at the end of our rope! The web site I manage has been hit with a flood of new user registrations that are NOT people authentically trying to join our community. Since this started on October 1st, we have been getting approximately 10 new users per hour, 24-7. The IP addresses are almost always unique and the profile information is different each time, sometimes with spammy links, sometimes not.

Lightbulb First Consulting, LLC (http://lightbulbfirst.com) seeks a Drupal subcontractor for assistance on some of our web development projects.
Qualifications
<
ul>
- Hook overrides for nodeapi, userapi, and the like
- Work with Forms API
- Development with key contributed modules, including CCK/Views, Token, Organic Groups, etc.
- Custom module and theme development
- Content migration/imports
- Upgrades for Drupal core and contributed modules
- Experience with installation profiles is a plus
Wishlist of extra stuff on the module pages to save time on researching the right ones
I would like to see a hiearchical view of modules, that require dependencies, both in images of the actual module on its page, and also in the URI/URL. It cements the idea I have of it, if you know what I mean.
Need visual designer/themer for Drupal nonprofit site
I'm 98% finished building a nonprofit's site in Drupal. Now we need an individual or firm to execute a visual design and Drupal theme. We're looking for someone with a decent portfolio, and ideally a track record working with nonprofits.
We don't need development or site building/configuration help, just design/theming.
The site is almost complete besides the design/theming. Ideally we'd like to find an individual or firm who can handle the visual design and theming, but are willing to break those functions up if necessary or advantageous.

Initial Site Development | elboh
I'm currently halfway through setting up a UK based charity which revolves around helping volunteers find organisations. I think I've got some fairly good ideas of how to go about this but at the moment I'm struggling with Drupal as a one man team and would really like someone else to come on board even if only for a short amount of work.
Drupal community shared booth at NTEN, Non-profit Drupal consulting shops wanted
Last year I was fortunate to share the Open Sourcery Booth at NTen. The Plone foundation had a nice booth with lots of traffic, and the Joomla project had a nice booth as well.
This year I'd like to propose that members of the Drupal community that service Non-profit customers band together and have a joint Drupal community booth. I've done this with some success at the other technology oriented conference in the Bay Area and other cities. We jointly promote Drupal, talk about each other's industry case study Drupal sites, and share customer leads.

web developer, webmaster | Glocal Business Network
International Non-profit Association (GBN, Glocal Business Network) seeks Drupal programmer/webmaster
About the job
• website development with Drupal (see http://mygbn.org and http://gbnonline.org to see what’s already done) and the job of a webmaster
• as we are non-profit, it’s not about the money, but as sponsors arrive, you will be paid for your job (in practice it means that presumably your job will be paid only some months after the system’s official launch)
• only committed and motivated people are welcome, with a long-term orientation (similar to our attitude)
• you should form a team, so you could divide up all the work to make it easier
• official start of mygbn.org: it depends on our negotiation (we would like to launch our system in 2009)

Group for Social Entrepreneurs?
Hi Drupal for Gooders,
I've just launched my own social enterprise -- www.NeighborHIRE.com a site aimed at helping people find work.
Anyway, it got me thinking that it would be nice if there was a group here at Drupal groups for Social Entrepreneurs -- this seems like the place to see if there's any interest. I thought I'd ask before putting in a request to start a new group, to see if there's at least a few others who may want to join.
Anyone interested?
Thanks,
Sam

Camp/Conference formula for Drupal
With over 500 camp attendees and 60+ session proposals, us organizers of Drupal Camp LA needed a Drupal site that was built for organizers and attendees, with lessons learned from 3+ DrupalCons & 2+ DrupalCamps. Here is our formula for our awesome camp site.
"DrupalCampLA.com was built on Drupal 6 using core & contributed modules to handle event registration, sponsorship management, featured speakers, user bio's, and session proposals. The website features an attendee driven event schedule where members propose sessions and only registered members pick which sessions they'd like to see (in the BarCamp style). Planning the schedule for the day of events has been made flexible enough to allow organizers to maintain a master schedule with ease. Not to mention that all attendees get their own schedule view with the sessions they pick."
"The web site was based on the latest Drupal 6.x release and utilized many of the current generation modules such as CCK for content customization, imagefield and imagecache to handle imaging Views & custom theming built on Zen for content presentation." (A full list of the modules used is in the case study - http://drupal.org/node/519100 )
The download link is available in the case study post - http://drupal.org/node/519100 and has been made available by LA Drupal & This By Them.

When a small community is under pressure of a larger dominant culture, what can they do? Language has always been a major element for building a society's identity and it is not different for indigenous peoples in Brazil. If a language have less space and less space in its speakers' lives, it will shrink and may become endangered. To avoid it, one must seek all available resources to strengthen minority languages and give them more room to grow.
