Check please?

I'd like to announce the creation of the British English translation team on localize.drupal.org! Members... you, hopefully!

After being asked to stop Ubercart talking about 'checks', I decided the proper way to deal with this was to get a translation, rather than fiddle with string overrides on every site.

There's a translation of Ubercart already in the works (here: http://drupal.org/node/615652) but if there any other modules that could do with a few strings de-Americanifying, hop in :)

Drupal Shops in Scotland

Hi

Can anyone suggest/recommend any drupal shops or independent designers/developers based in Scotland who can provide a web design service and then produce the Drupal theme from the design.

Thanks
Duncan

Drupal drinks: 5 Nov? venue?

Next drinks should be Thursday 5 November.
How's that date sounding for everyone?

Any idea on a venue?

So far we've had:
- Waterline in Leith. Pro: good beer and food! Con: sat at tables, can't really mingle. And too far from the centre of town.
- Guildford Arms off Princes St. Pro: huge range of beers! they gave us a nice corner to ourselves. Con: no food. (dealbreaker in my opinion, for I am a Drupal eater as well as drinker ;)

Where next?
Someone has suggested Joseph Pearce to me: http://www.theskinny.co.uk/venue/8304-joseph-pearces

Any other ideas?

Space Needed!

We are trying to get into a routine of informally meeting to get to know each other, our projects and share knowledge. Understandably, while good for the Edinburgh folks, it may not be enough of an incentive for people outside Edinburgh to travel in. So, we are thinking we'd like to start targetting specific subjects for more formal sessions.

Informal Meet Up 22 October - Edinburgh

The Waterline Pub meetup on 8 October was good for getting to know each other and the plan is to try and continue with the informal meetups while working towards finding appropriate subjects and spaces for technical/presentation sessions.

Next planned chat-over-a-pint is Thursday 22 October at the Guildford Arms, 1 West Register Street, Edinburgh EH2 2AA

Meetup on 8th/9th Oct

Hey,

I thought its better to split the thread below for clearer discussion for the coming meetup. It seems that plenty of sleeping Drupal agents have activated after the DrupalCon and this is great!

I would throw in an idea for a pub and time, the food is great, and they have a good selection of beers. The semi-downside is that its in Leith (but the area is quite pretty).

Pub: http://www.beerintheevening.com/pubs/s/17/17099/Waterline/Leith
Time: 6pm 7pm, 8th (Thursday)

I can book the place no problem.

Calling all Drupalers in Central Scotland

Hello folks,

I am a self employed web developer living in the South of Glasgow. I have been using Drupal for the last couple of years, and am keen to increase my involvement in the Drupal community. I am keen to meet other Drupal enthusiasts, whether they are Drupal pros or individuals who want to know more about and discuss Drupal.

I am also keen to help out with organising Drupal related events and just generally promoting Drupal.

So hello, who are you and how do you do?

Finbarr

City selection for DrupalCon 2010 still wide open

Please note that the list of cities from http://groups.drupal.org/node/26241 (as per the BoF in Paris) is just a list of possible suggestions. Please see the draft document that has been proposed for city selection guidelines: http://groups.drupal.org/node/27246

The goal is to publish that document at the end of this week (after incorporating feedback from the community) and to start receiving city proposals immediately after that. Since we need to have recommendations to give to the Drupal Association by October 15 the proposal phase will have to be short. The proposal phase will probably end October 1. After that we will have the proposals reviewed by the events agency to gather their feedback in time for the October 15 deadline.

If you want DrupalCon in your city/country in 2010 please review the document and add your feedback!

A theming session for next meetup?

There's been quite a lot of request for a Zen theming session (http://drupal.org/project/zen) so wanted to know if this is something that most of you will be keen to come along to? if there is enough people that wish to attend, i'll see what can be done, ie:

  • A date most of you can attend
  • A free venue to host the session or any company wanting to sponsor this event.

If you would like to contact me direct to discuss this further, please use: http://drupalscotland.org/contact

Thanks,

Meeting in November

Hi guys,

how about a meeting this November? Spoke to Albert, our office with good chance could be available in Leith, and there is a nice pub with wifi nearby too. I would propose the last week of November, solely on the selfish reason that i will be away the week before. What do you think?

Any Zen Themers

Hi again,

not really sure what happening with this group at the moment but I'm needing some face to face advice from someone if they have some time. I've been messing around with blocks and tpl files but still a site I constructed still has Drupal written all over it and I want to break free of that mould.

I'm messing around with Zen and need someone to handhold me in forming the initial layouts and styles, so any CSS people who have used Zen would be ideal.

In return... well I'm sure something can be worked out, contact me here or privately.

Thanks
Keith

TinyMCE

I found this screencast a great help when I was trying to configure TinyMCE on my site...

http://www.usingdrupal.com/node/11

Be warned that part of the cast won't work in 5.6 because of a bug within the core filter module so you'll need to upgrade to 5.7
