Any Zen Themers

KeithHurst - Mon, 2008-06-09 22:42

Hi again,

not really sure what happening with this group at the moment but I'm needing some face to face advice from someone if they have some time. I've been messing around with blocks and tpl files but still a site I constructed still has Drupal written all over it and I want to break free of that mould.

I'm messing around with Zen and need someone to handhold me in forming the initial layouts and styles, so any CSS people who have used Zen would be ideal.

In return... well I'm sure something can be worked out, contact me here or privately.

Thanks
Keith

Hello all,

There is a yahoo group for PHP in Edinburgh, I wrote to Richard and asked did he want to join forces with his members and see if any of them wanted to come along to the meet ups. Thought it would be a good idea if we could combine the two groups for meeting seeing as drupal uses a lot of php.

Received an email off him today so hes going to inform the members of the group about the dates.

I found this screencast a great help when I was trying to configure TinyMCE on my site...

Be warned that part of the cast won't work in 5.6 because of a bug within the core filter module so you'll need to upgrade to 5.7

Advanced Profile Module

KerrySanto - Mon, 2008-02-18 13:38

okay had a bash at this and it kept taking me to other modules, is there a list somewhere knocking about of all the modules you need for it to work properly, as am a bit stuck on the node bit, did install what it said but got a bit lost and suddenly starting to lose the will to live - any tips and pointers would be cool. Have a testsite set up so nothing affects the live site so cant do much damage to that yet.

Took the plunge

Found out had enough space to set up a test site to play with from Caleb in the USA, so have taken the plunge and starting from scratch and having a go at installing everything. So if next time you see me I will be bald well at least you will know why as I have never done this before.

Due to reasons beyond my control the Forrest Cafe cant accommodate us for the February meeting, but I have gone through the diary again with Ryan and have definite confirmed dates that won't be cancelled for the next three months and these will be

Monday 10th March 2008 - 7 till 9pm

Monday 21st April 2008 - 7pm till 9pm

Monday 26th May 2008 - 7pm till 9pm

So if anyone else would like to run round like a dafty and find a place that would fit us all with free wifi for February be my guest will put the dates and details in the even section

Feedback from the Forrest Cafe with regards to meeting dates

KerrySanto - Thu, 2008-02-07 13:52

Well the meeting with Ryan went well and we went through the diary to see what dates they had space available hes happy to give us free meeting space for the next three months, from 7 till 9 to see how it goes. Then he said we could review the situation as to see how it goes, there will probably be a donation to be made after the trial period but we can see how we get on

Unfortunately, Monday, Tuesdays and Wednesdays of each month are out so that leaves us with the last Thursday of the month, so Alan can you change the date for the February meeting to Thursday the 28th of February.

How to share knowledge in Scotland? 2

Thanks Andy for starting this issue, I've created a 'story post' for this discussion so we can all comment as the first post was a wiki which doesnt allow comments. I think someone needs to undertake a full due diligence of the pros & cons of both running an online site and/or using the tools available within the Drupal groups platform. I can see a ton of issues and am quite happy to undertake this task. This is a Drupal group specific to topics regarding 'Drupal groups' and I intend to chat to this groups manager about future developments and existing issues and functionality.

Thanks to everyone who made it to the 1st Drupal Scotland group mtg, as discussed the group will hold a meeting on the last Tuesday of each month. All are welcome.

How to share knowledge in Scotland?

public
group: Scotland

I've had a quick look round the other groups here and can't see anyone creating content for others to share. The best I have seen is a beginners group where they have a "tag list" block on the right hand side. It seems to me that the best thing would be to create a simple Drupal site for us all to add content? Gets some hands on and allows us to all contribute our knowledge towards something constructive. The thing that may be an issue is where do we host this?

How to test and demonstrate Drupal on a USB stick

public
group: Scotland

The following allows you to run a test version of a Drupal site from a USB stick. This allows you to take it along and show customers. For me it allows me to test out various things without breaking the main site.

download the software from here http://www.ratatosk.net/software/onastick/

unzip then click on start, bat in root directory. Its as easy as that. Check the readme file for default username and password. The biggest problem I had was getting MySQL talking to Drupal - my web host does all that stuff automatically.

Hi folks,

I'm a web designer working for a large company based in Glasgow, Scotland. I'm in the process of learning Drupal to build my next generation of websites and have got stuck! (mainly when it comes to views/arguments) and could really do with spending a day or two with someone who knows what they are doing.

I'd really looking for someone based in Scotland - i'll pay travel and an hourly fee. It may even be possible that there is future work - e.g if you are any good i'll farm the work out to you - i've another 5 or so sites to build so there is plenty that will need done.

Who in Scotland uses Drupal?

Well for one, I do. I am a web developer for a scottish music company, who is using Drupal to create our next generation websites.

I'd like to see how many people on here use Drupal, and if we can work together on organising a group meeting either in Glasgow or Edinburgh.

Leave your comments and join the group!
