Finland
A group for Finnish Drupal developers and users. Discussion both in Finnish and English. This group is quite inactive. Please see Drupal.fi instead.
DrupalCamp Helsinki 2010
We will arrange two annual camps in Helsinki. One is at end of May and another at end of November. Spring camp will be bigger one and more international, fall is smaller and larger portion of sessions are in Finnish. Save the date, more details will follow on drupalcamp.fi.
City selection for DrupalCon 2010 still wide open
Please note that the list of cities from http://groups.drupal.org/node/26241 (as per the BoF in Paris) is just a list of possible suggestions. Please see the draft document that has been proposed for city selection guidelines: http://groups.drupal.org/node/27246
The goal is to publish that document at the end of this week (after incorporating feedback from the community) and to start receiving city proposals immediately after that. Since we need to have recommendations to give to the Drupal Association by October 15 the proposal phase will have to be short. The proposal phase will probably end October 1. After that we will have the proposals reviewed by the events agency to gather their feedback in time for the October 15 deadline.
If you want DrupalCon in your city/country in 2010 please review the document and add your feedback!

Drupal is going East, meet the Ukrainian community!
Over the weekend of August 28—29 another big Drupal event will gather Drupallers in Kyiv, Ukraine, for gaining and sharing knowledge, as well as discussing all Drupal related topics.
Le tour de Drupal
It is for a good cause, and Drupal is part of it.
Chris and John are doing a charity bike ride called Le Tour de Drupal from London to Paris arriving just in time at the start of the DrupalCon Paris 2009.
T-shirts, so many t-shirts...
and this year's conference t-shirt is...
you know it already anyhow! :-)
Congrats for the Drupal Invasion in Paris.

We will take a blue t-shirt (somewhat close to your background) or any other suggestions?

So, of course, you will not be missing out on showing your designs to everyone. :-)
Please read the following guidelines.
The Contests
There are two.
- Conference T-Shirt
- Limited Edition
So be sure for which one you are submitting your proposal, as the requirements vary.
PayPal down, Early Bird +1
Since last night, PayPal refused to let you go through with your registrations.
It is fixed now, and you can go ahead with the Early Birds.
Due to this delay, we add one day to the deadline, which is now July 13th.
This also means, that the voting on sessions will be prolonged one day (same deadline), as otherwise you did not have a chance to vote.
Voting on Sessions
The session proposals are done and ready.
Now you still have some time to be able to vote on them, so we can see which sessions are on the top of your lists and plan the schedule accordingly.
Get busy using your right to vote again, as this is your event!
Deadline will be Sunday, 12th July
Here is how you do it (if you don't know already):
DrupalCon Paris 2009: You are the event!
First of all a BIG THANK YOU to everyone who has helped us so far with preparing, organizing and spreading the word about DrupalCon Paris 2009, all over Europe and even internationally.
This is your event! You are the community. You are the ones who represent Drupal and we want to have you, the representatives, join us in Paris.
So we need your help to spread the word even “louder” and make the DrupalCon even more Drupalicious, for you.

Key pros and cons of Drupal vs Joomla
Drupal
* Rock solid & high quality platform
* Real multi-site-feature (only one installation for several sites)
* Any Kind of user groups & user permissions, OpenId compliant in Version 6
* Can run membership and community sites, not only CMS etc
* Powerful templating system. Any XHTML or CSS template can be easily converted to Drupal.
* Drupal needs a little time investment to realize all the huge possibilities of Drupal
* Clear, high quality code and API (easy to integrate with other solutions etc)
* Flexibility and no known limitations
DrupalCamp Helsinki
First ever DrupalCamp in Finland is going to take place on Wednesday 27th of May 2009. This is just one day event and we have placed it on purpose just between DrupalCamp Copenhagen (22.-24.5.) and Stockholm (29.-30.5.). Most content is going to be in English. Foreign speakers and guests are welcome and we'll even throw in a tour of Helsinki for them. :-)
More details will follow...
Drupal meetup @ IRC
We are hosting our first official IRC meetup at #Drupal.fi channel. More information (in Finnish): http://drupal.fi/blogit/wesku/drupal-miitti-irc
The event is likely to be mostly in Finnish, but we are not offended if you pop in and start speaking English. :-)
Drupal IRC channels for Scandinavia
It was so nice to meet Drupalistas from other Scandinavian countries at the DrupalCon two weeks ago. To keep the fire burning and continue building bridges, I am listing here the Drupal IRC channels of the Scandinavian countries. This also gives us the opportunity to chat in realtime with other people we have not met before.
I know we cannot order beer from Druplicon (bot), that just have to wait in the next meet-up/camp/con :-)
This list is taken from http://drupal.org/irc
- #drupal-denmark for the Drupal Denmark user group.
- #drupal-norge for Norwegian Drupal users. Though you can visit this channel anytime you want, Drupal Norge recommends a chat schedule from 21:00H every Wednesday and Sunday.
- #drupal-se for Swedish Drupal users
Drupal Drinks or meetup
Hi Finnish Drupalistas in Helsinki
I am a drupalista from Raincity Studios and will be in Helsinki for Nokia Open Lab 2008 September 10-13, 2008and also the night of the 17th and the morning of the 18th.
Anybody want to meet up for some Drupal drinks? Say on the night of the 17th?
If so let me know, roland AT raincitystudios.com or ping me on skype: rtanglao
Scandinavian BoF @ Drupalcon Szeged
Shall we have a Scandinavian BoF session in Szeged? It is actually in line with one of the four tracks of Drupalcon Szeged Growing Drupal. Though this will be informal, I think that we should have speakers from different Scandinavian countries.
Which day is convenient to you? What time? What are the topics to discuss?
I suggest: Friday 16:00 - 16:45 (if we submit a BoF proposal and get a slot from the official BoF list) or 17:00 - 17:45 if informal.
John
g.d.o/scandinavia
