DrupalCamp Dallas 2009 a Success!

Many are still recovering from the sold-out and jam-packed weekend that was DrupalCamp Dallas 2009. Over 100 developers, users, and business owners curious about the Drupal open source platform gathered in Dallas the first weekend of August for two days of Drupal! Here is what some of the attendees said...

"Definitely one of best DrupalCamps I've attended. The Dallas Drupal users are a vibrant and knowledgeable bunch." - Todd Ross Nienkerk, Four Kitchens

Non-Profits and Drupal

I work at channelAustin, a non-profit 501(c)(3) in Austin that is embracing Drupal. Our current web site is a Drupal site. More importantly, we are partners in the Open Media Project and are working collaboratively with other community television stations nationally on Drupal-based tools and are establishing a new channelAustin site. My wife is a board member of a non-profit, the Save Barton Creek Association, and they have recently converted their web site to Drupal. I’m aware of a handful of other Austin non-profits using Drupal, such as Texas Impact. Within the broader open source community in Austin, there is definitely a connection to non-profits and within that connection there are Drupal developers and implementers. It’s not hard to find reports on Drupal and non-profits, like Drupal for Nonprofits, or, How to Build Social Networks for Change and How Drupal Will Save The World. I periodically learn about large national non-profits that have made the switch to Drupal.

Drupal Help

Hi everyone! I'm a novice to Drupal though Ive been working with it for the past several months. I'd like to join in on group activities as I would like to learn all I can about Drupal and working with it. Even the smallest thing such as a maintenance update has me very frightened to even do, and help has been limited for me, which is frustrating at times:( I'd appreciate any assistance I could possibly get, there are so many things I'd like to do to liven up my site and make it much better.

Drupal 6 Theme Designer/Developer | OBmedia LLC

We're putting together a new industrial-themed site at http://www.industrialpedia.com/

This site is currently using a custom Drupal 6 theme which was developed by another consultant, for another site we own.

The existing theme is for a beauty site. We would like to change the layout, images, colors, etc. to match an industrial site, rather than a beauty site.

The new layout should look something like this page: http://b2b.tradeholding.com/default.cgi/action/industrialcategories/
Except that we don't particularly like their color sheme.

Rice Class of 2009 Online Community

I recently launched the Rice University Class of 2009 Online Community as a venue at which members of my graduating class can keep in touch with each other. Specifically it aims to help those who wouldn't otherwise go out of their way to keep in touch with our class (especially with those members with whom they weren't the closest). The community is closed, but I'd be happy to answer any questions about it, especially if you're considering doing something similar. Thus far roughly 2/7 of my class are registered.

Any interest in a user group meeting?

I notice that most of the postings of recent date on this group have been job postings. That's great, but I'm wondering if there's still any interest in a user group with meetings and such. I've gone through the agony of designing a new, complex Web site using Drupal while learning it. It can be great fun, but a lot of pain as well. It's always better to have some folks to work with and share ideas.

I'm getting ready to move on to theme and module development in Drupal. I don't have a lot of spare time but would be more than willing to share what time and skills I have.
