Houston
Wondering if there are Houston users out there who might like to get together and exchange ideas, strategies, design tips or whatever. Surely Austin can't have all the fun!
Need some help with Drupal!
I'm interested in finding a Drupal Dev/Prog who can help me with a new website. Please contact me for details.

I don't live in Houston any longer.. I live in Las Vegas, but I will be traveling home to Houston on May 19th for the week to be in my cousin's wedding. It would be great if we could work it where there could be a Drupal meet-up in Houston. I'd like to connect with some Drupalers from back home. Let me know if anyone is interested in getting together and talking shop!

Rice Web Design and Development Club
I am starting up a student club at Rice University, the Rice Web Design and Development Club. I plan on organizing a meeting once a month to discuss various topics and I'd like one those topics to be about content management systems in general and Drupal in particular. Would anyone be interested in attending this meeting (date and time negotiable as per your availability) and/or presenting for a bit?
Thanks,
J.D.

Replay of 1st Drupal Get Together
Hi All,
Last night we had 2 in attendance at the Stags Head Bar to talk Drupal Stuff. Myself, Bruce, and Sean (Skor) showed up. We got started around 730 pm after finally figuring out who each other was, and wrapped around 10pm. Sean brought his laptop and we viewed various sites that we had both done using the bars wifi network.
Highlights (for me): Sean introduced a website called www.drupaldojo.com which looks like a great source for learning aspects of Drupal. An idea I put forth was the possibility to do a group project, e.g. develop a module for Drupal.

impromptu meeting locations?
Anyone have some good suggestions on good drupal meeting places?
I find myself with a little free time over the next 3 weeks or so, and I'm thinking one or two nights a week, I may post a notice here and head out for some mobile drupal hacking and poking.
I'm in the clear lake area, but I'd be willing to head up into town a few times, if any of you are interested.
Someone mentioned valhalla on the Rice campus. Is that an option for non-students?
BarCamp
BarCamp is coming up soon. Any interest in presenting a drupal session? Bruce, wanna teach a group how to beat the e-commerce module into submission?
My first Drupal site is up live....
www . e x c l u s i v e g e n e t i c s . com
It is an auction site for bucking bulls. I used the ecommerce module and modified the ec auction sub-module liberally. I learned alot, and think Drupal's biggest strength is its flexibility. I will definitely develop more sites using Drupal.
Critiques, suggestions, and questions are welcome.
Also I would like to Thank Geri and Katherine of this list for all their off-list help. I really appreciate the members of this group being willing to share ideas and get better at this.
:-)

My New Site is Slow :-(
Hey guys,
This is a new site (myresearchfunds) I created to help university professors connect with the industry and get funding. However, the site seems to be a little slow. One reason could be the server perhaps (its on a shared host by networksolutions.com) or perhaps there are too many modules being employed. Are there any other reasons a site could be slow (there isn't too much traffic as of now).
If you guys can have a look and let me know how you find it, that'll be great. Any criticism is wholeheartedly welcome :-)
Thanks.
Topic for meeting/discussion?
Does anyone have a suggestion or a specific problem to address? I suspect we could all benefit from some meetings, and it might even be fun!
I'd love to organize something for June or July, but I think a topic would be a good start.
Any suggestions for location?

Looking for a Dru*PAL* in Houston
Hi Houstonians,
I am new(bie) to Drupal. I have a fastrack web project that I thought Drupal would save me time on. Then I read the 'pro drupal development book' and realized customizing may be a project unto itself. Im interested in anybody that is willing to let me bounce ideas off, ask questions and advice, and maybe even hire for tutoring or development if I get desperate. Living in the Houston Heights.
Thanks,
Bruce
Hello!
Hi there. I'm a rising Junior at Rice University and I have recently gotten into Drupal. I am using it to create a new website for the Student Association. The site should be up and running in the next few days at http://sa.rice.edu . I might be interested in a Houston meetup of some sort. There are plenty of good places to meet on campus if people are interested in that.

Show and Tell
I was thinking it might be useful to share the things we are working on in order to exchange ideas, critique, give suggestions, learn... yada yada yada.
To that end:
www.villagegreenroundtop.com - a place my husband and i operate in the country
www.katherinedruckman.com/roundtop - a site we are doing for the little town of round top
www.katherinedruckman.com/maxout - something we are working on for a financial advisor
www.techsophic.com - my husband's tech business
Bring your friends!
Let's try to get as many people together as we can, and start up a regular meeting. We can all learn new things, share ideas and gain perspective. Any requests for presentation topics?
I am interested in flash integration at the moment. Anyone out there a big flash user?
I know there are users in Houston
I know you're out there, so come out of the woodwork and throw in your two cents. Eventually we can set up a meeting where we can swap ideas.
