Northeast Ohio April Meetup: Drupal Hosting

Start:
2017-04-19 19:00 - 21:00 America/New_York
Organizers:
Event type:
User group meeting

After an informative and wide-ranging discussion at the March meetup, let's get together for a more in-depth look at one aspect of Drupal -- hosting.

Depending on the complexity of your site and what version and components you will enable, the requirements for Drupal's hosting stack can be quite hefty. There are a lot of cheap and easy hosting providers that offer Drupal hosting with 1-click installs, but some are not sufficient for more than the simplest of sites.

That should not deter you, and a good understanding of the fundamentals of the hosting stack can help you avoid (or get you out of) trouble, even if you've got a full-service hosting provider doing the heavy lifting for you.

We will look at

  • Components of the hosting stack and understanding how they fit together
  • Optional components to make it all work better
  • Security
  • Tools and utilities
  • How to set this up on your own
  • Providers that offer basic and optimized environments so you don't have to do this on your own

We will cover the basics and some more advanced topics. Novices and pros alike are welcome and an understanding of these concepts is helpful for even the roles that don't directly deal the back end of Drupal.
